A mere hour’s drive from Florence will transport you to this internationally renowned National Park and its pristine reserve woodlands.
Our rendezvous is set for 9 AM at the San Martino Church in Castagno d’Andrea 8 (the hometown of the illustrious artist Andrea del Castagno). A brief 15-minute car ride from there will bring us to the trailhead.
As we hike through the enchanting beech woods, we’ll ascend to the park’s two loftiest summits, Monte Falterona (1654 mt./5426 ft.) and Monte Falco (1658 mt./5439 ft.), where we’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramas. On our descent, we’ll discover the Arno river’s origin and a mystical, concealed Etruscan lake known as the Lake of the Idols.
