- Lake Louise - Lake Louise is a glacial lake located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. It is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and wife of the Marquess of Lorne, who served as Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. The lake’s turquoise hue is due to rock flour carried into it by meltwater from nearby glaciers. Covering an area of 0.8 km², the lake drains through the 3 km long Louise Creek into the Bow River.
- Moraine Lake - Note: Moraine Lake is accessible after June 1st, with an additional charge due to the visit fee. Access may require joining a bus group because of vehicle restrictions by the park. Please refer to the exclusion section for details.
Moraine Lake is a renowned glacially-fed lake located in the heart of Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Valley of the Ten Peaks.
- Lake Louise Visitor Information Centre - The village of Lake Louise is the highest mini town, with an elevation of 1,661 m. Visitors can enjoy free time here to have lunch, explore the shops, and visit the center around the mini square, recharging for the next two lakes on the tour.
- Crowfoot Glacier - Early explorers named the glacier Crowfoot because its three sections of ice resembled a crow’s foot on the mountain. Although one of the three “toes” has receded and disappeared, the glacier remains spectacular.
Crowfoot Glacier is located above Bow Lake, offering stunning photo opportunities for those traveling the Icefields Parkway.
The breathtaking Crowfoot Glacier can be viewed from a lookout point on the renowned Icefields Parkway, about 34 km (21 mi) north of Lake Louise. Attached to the northeastern side of Crowfoot Mountain, overlooking Bow Lake, the glacier’s runoff feeds into the Bow River, which flows from Banff National Park through Calgary to the Alberta prairies.
- Bow Lake - Bow Lake is one of the many lakes along the Icefields Parkway and a popular stop for visitors to Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. The Canadian Rockies are renowned for their stunning vistas and lakes, and Bow Lake is highly recommended for a stop to stretch your legs on the Icefields Parkway.
A short walk along the lakeshore trail offers a family-friendly hike, or visitors can enjoy longer hikes around Bow Lake for a more complete day. Whatever the choice, Bow Lake is not to be missed.
- Peyto Lake - Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, near the Icefields Parkway. Named after Bill Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area, the lake is situated in a valley of the Waputik Range, between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak, and Mount Jimmy Simpson, at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft). During summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake from a nearby glacier, giving it a unique bright turquoise color. Due to its vibrant color, photos of the lake often appear in illustrated books, and the area around the lake is a popular sightseeing spot. The lake is best viewed from Bow Summit, the highest point on the Icefields Parkway. Peyto Lake is fed by Peyto Creek, which drains water from Caldron Lake and Peyto Glacier (part of the Wapta Icefield). Peyto Lake is the source of the Mistaya River, which flows northwest from the lake’s outflow.

Herbert Lake - Herbert Lake offers stunning views of the lake and snow-capped mountains. There is a fantastic and less-traveled trail with excellent mountain views, starting from the parking area of Herbert Lake. The exact trailhead can be challenging to find, so it is recommended to download offline maps to ensure you stay on the route.
The trail is well-defined and easy to follow once past the trailhead.
There are a few ups and downs, but nothing too difficult. The trail provides multiple viewpoints of the lake and runs alongside the lake for most of the trail.
-
Johnston Canyon - Note: After June 1st, this attraction will be replaced by Moraine Lake. However, if you wish to visit the canyon after June 1st, it can still be included in the itinerary by shortening the stay time at other attractions.
Johnston Creek originates north of Castle Mountain in a glacial valley southwest of Badger Pass. The creek flows through a gorge known as Johnston Canyon. As Johnston Creek approaches the Bow River, it flows through a large canyon formed by erosion over thousands of years. The creek has carved through the limestone rock to create sheer canyon walls, as well as waterfalls, tunnels, and pools.
