Etna and great wines - A marvellous day out, worth every penny. Claudio was great: courteous, sociable, knowledgeable and friendly. Etna is truly vast and the advice regarding clothing was very useful. The wind was very cold and very fierce. The wine tasting was great. Lovely wines were offered and the food to go with each one was perfect and plentiful. Claudio looked after us well, making a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

Memorable hike and wine tour - There’s no better way to spend our last day in Sicily, we had a great tour of the caves and Mt Etna. Ended the tour with great food and wine! Could not have asked for a better experience or better guide.

A very well organized and interesting visit - We loved the experience. The care by our guide Eduardo went well and he speaks very good French. His explanations, knowledge and kindness were remarkable. Visiting Mount Etna and a cave were a flawless one. The stopover at Enoteca dell’Etna for the tasting of food and wine was of a high quality, not to mention the kindness of the staff. I will not hesitate to recommend Tribe Etna to all my friends.

Had a cracker of a time... - Had a cracker of a time with Bruna. She is passionate, very knowledgable and tad crazy (aren't all Sicilian). The climb up Mt Etna was challenging but fun, and the wine tasting that follows make up for hike. We had a South slope Etna bianco with good body (akin to Grand Cru Chablis) that is generally lacking in Etna Bianco. Also bought a 2014 Etna Rosso that was ... beyond description. TAKE THIS TRIP !

Great experience - This was easily the best excursion of our trip, and the best value we've ever experienced. It began with being picked up just outside the port gate (a variety of pickup locations are available). The van was clean and comfortable.
The tour starts with a 40-minute drive to Mt. Etna. Our knowledgeable and friendly guide and driver, Itala, narrated our trip in English. As temperatures are 10 degrees lower on the mountain than in the city (there was snow!), jackets and boots can be rented inexpensively. The guide will lead the group on a 30-minute hike upslope, then return. Alternatively, you can choose to purchase your own tickets to ride the Gondola up another 2000 meters or so of elevation. On a clear day, this is highly recommended. We went up on a cloudy day and still loved it - we would have lost out if we missed it.
Next, we went down to the wine tasting at a lovely winery. The wines and paired antipasti were delicious, and the portions generous (our group did not finish the meat or cheese dishes, for example). We bought a bottle of delicious pistachio liqueur, but did not feel pressured to do so.
Finally, we explored a lava cave from the 1696 eruption (if I recall correctly). Helmets and flashlights were provided.
Overall. We had great fun.
This excursion departs at 8:30 AM and returns at 5:00 PM, so, sadly, it will not work if you are on a cruise that arrives in the morning and departs in the early afternoon. If you are visiting other than through a "short-day" cruise, we urge you to book it fast - spots seem to fill up fast (we felt lucky to get two seats).

Etna and wine tasting - The trip up Etna was fantastic. Lorenzo our guide was brilliant. He gave us a good insight to Catania's past and also some facts about Etna. The food and wine was excellent. Would definitely recommend this trip to others.

Bright spot on a rainy day - We had our tour on a rainy day in March and we were worried that we would not be able to have the full experience. This was not the case as our guide Salvatore was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the area and its history and very good at keeping everyone going. We were able to visit the lava caves and hike up to the 1886 Crater and the whole way, the natural beauty was stunning and changed so much as you got higher and higher. As if that wasn't enough, our stop at the winery in ragalna was one of the best meals of our trip as with each tasting they brought out platters meats, cheeses, and veg all paired perfectly to the wines they were served with. Some of the best quality wine and olive oil we will ever have, and Giuseppe at the winery was an excellent guide as well. All in all a wonderful day.

Mt. Etna Tour - I would recommend this tour to anyone! Our guide Daria was very knowledgeable and excited about showing us all Catania had to offer. Anyone wanting to try the flavors, wine, and culture Catania has to offer should do this excursion!
