• Mount Etna - An English-speaking guide will meet you at your hotel or port at your preferred time in the morning to begin your private tour of Sicily. The guide will explain the formation of the Etna volcano, its eruption history, and the local culture. Traveling in a comfortable private car through charming mountain villages, you will enjoy stunning views of the Sicilian countryside, filled with orange and lemon groves, olive and almond trees, and buildings and old churches made from lava stone. The journey continues up Etna to the “Rifugio Sapienza” station at 2000 meters. Here, you can explore the famous Silvestri Craters, take in breathtaking views, visit souvenir shops with lava gifts, and relax at a bar or restaurant. For guests arriving from Messina Port, a visit to the Sartorius Craters on the North Side of Mt. Etna is offered for logistical reasons. The three-hour tour includes transfers to and from Etna.
• Taormina - Next, your guide will drive you to Taormina, one of Europe’s most exclusive tourist destinations. Situated on a hill overlooking the Ionian Sea, Taormina provides stunning views of the coastline and Mount Etna, Europe’s most active volcano. In Taormina, you will have free time to explore the charming city center, admire the mix of ancient Greek, Roman, and Norman architecture, and shop at various boutiques and local artisan stores.
• Savoca - The tour continues in Savoca, a must-visit Sicilian hilltop village made famous by F.F. Coppola’s legendary film “The Godfather.” The guide will share insights about the filming process, trivia, and the true story of the Sicilian Mafia. You will stroll through the authentic streets of Savoca, unchanged since the movie was filmed. Visit ancient churches, Bar Vitelli where Michael spoke to Apollonia’s father, and the Church of Santa Lucia where the couple wed. Follow the same path into town that the newlyweds did, and perhaps meet locals who appeared in the movie, like the lady who played Apollonia’s mother! At the end of the walking tour, you will stop at a traditional “trattoria” to enjoy organic, locally produced Sicilian antipasti and a dish of traditional “Pasta alla Norma,” served with local wine.
