• Celje Castle - Castles are a testament to their time, yet people throughout history have embraced and understood them in diverse ways, much like how life continually evolves.

With their remarkable history and present, castles and manors have always sparked human imagination. Numerous tales have been woven about these castles, particularly concerning their residents. These stories have been adapted over time and passed down through generations. Thanks to these enduring stories and legends preserved by folk tradition, we can still (magically) experience the past of these mostly ruined castles, which continue to stand boldly on cliffs, reminding us of their former splendor.

Many stories and legends have been shared about the Old Castle Celje, The Lower Castle, the Counts and Princes of Celje, and the people from Teharje.

The Savinja river basin in Slovenia boasts the highest concentration of castle and manor remains in the country. Several factors contribute to this. Notably, until 1140, it served as the center of the Savinja margraviate. Additionally, the bishops of Carinthia Krško acquired significant property here, and numerous noble families established themselves in the region. Among these, the influential counts and princes of Celje were particularly prominent.
