Lago de Acajatuba - Depart from your hotel in Manaus at approximately 8:00 AM. A brief drive west leads to the breathtaking Lake Acajatuba, where a canoe ride takes you to a charming riverside lodge. After settling in, enjoy a picturesque boat tour to explore the surroundings.
Ariaú - In the afternoon, quietly paddle through creeks and lakes, on the lookout for wildlife such as birds, monkeys, and possibly sloths (sightings are not guaranteed as animals roam freely here!).
Next, try your hand at piranha fishing — catch one and it might be served for dinner!
As night descends, return to the water to seek out caymans and nocturnal creatures. The jungle comes alive with sounds. Look up — the Amazon night sky is truly awe-inspiring.
Jungle Survival & Pink Dolphins
Lago de Acajatuba - After breakfast, embark on an authentic jungle survival hike. Learn to set traps, identify medicinal plants, and uncover ancient techniques used by indigenous people.
Lago de Acajatuba - In the afternoon, visit a local riverside family. Discover their lifestyle, explore their plantations, and learn how they produce manioc flour — a staple in Amazonian cuisine.
Next, visit a dolphin research platform dedicated to studying and protecting the rare pink river dolphins. Here, you’ll learn about their behavior and biology — and have the incredible opportunity to swim alongside them in their natural habitat. (Remember to bring a swimsuit and towel!)
Lago de Acajatuba - After dinner, embark on a night walk to observe the nocturnal wildlife of the jungle. There’s a good chance to see spiders, owls, and other night creatures.
Culture, Sunrise & Natural Wonders
Lago de Acajatuba - Rise before dawn to witness the Amazon sunrise — a magical moment as the jungle awakens.
After breakfast, depart the lodge and head to a new section of the Negro River.
Comunidade Indigena Dessana - Visit an indigenous community originally from the Colombia border. Experience ancient rituals, traditional dances, and savor local cuisine — a profound and respectful cultural exchange.
Praia do Tupe - If water levels permit, relax on a white-sand beach and enjoy a swim in the warm, dark waters of the Rio Negro.
Parque Ecologico Janauary - Visit a giant water lily lake, a surreal and tranquil spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Comunidade Catalao - Next, explore a fascinating floating village where over 100 families reside in wooden houses that rise and fall with the river. Schools, shops, churches — all floating!
Comunidade Catalao - At a floating fish farm, meet the legendary Pirarucu, the Amazon’s largest freshwater fish with scales. Try feeding one — they can grow up to 2 meters long!
Meeting of Waters - Finally, witness the astonishing Meeting of the Waters, where the dark Rio Negro and sandy Amazon River flow side by side without mixing — a phenomenon unique to this location.
Estimated return to your hotel in Manaus: around 5:00 PM.
