Mirador del Cañon de Huancas Sonche - Situated in Huancas, this viewpoint is built on a mountain ridge, offering views of the Sonche Canyon. The canyon, approximately 980 meters deep, is carved by the Sonche River for about 11 kilometers until it merges with the Utcubamba River. This site provides a serene connection with nature, allowing visitors to enjoy the landscape and absorb the tranquility and energy of the place. Shortly after, the tour will proceed to the next destination.
Mirador LA GOYA - This viewpoint blends natural geological formations with modern architecture, creating a perfect harmony that allows visitors to appreciate the surrounding landscape, including the Sonche Canyon, archaeological sites, and cultivation terraces, which are part of the Chachapoya cultural heritage. After enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the location, the tour will continue to the next site.
Mirador de Huanca Urco - After a brief journey through an extensive pine forest (reforestation), the tour arrives at Huanca Urco, located at the northern end of the Huancas hill. From here, visitors have a privileged view of the Utcubamba River canyon and the Luya valley. With binoculars, one can observe the “Pueblo de los Muertos” archaeological site and the Gocta Falls. From this viewpoint, the pre-Hispanic road (Capac Ñan) descends to the canyon’s bottom. Minutes later, the tour visits the Huanca Urco archaeological site, located atop the mountain, surrounded by a perimeter wall. The center features a rectangular structure and other constructions from the first Huancas Mitimae occupations, with a guided tour included.
Distrito de Huancas - Huancas Pottery Experiential Experience. Craft pottery is a significant activity for the locals, historically supplying ceramic dishes to nearby towns and provinces. The tour concludes at the main square, followed by a transfer to the hotel.
