• Wat Rong Khun - The Rong Khun Temple stands out from other temples due to its entirely radiant white construction, featuring sparkling reflections from mirrored glass mosaics embedded in the white plaster. This temple is the brainchild of Mr. Chalermchai Kositpipat, one of Thailand’s most celebrated artists, who envisioned a temple in white to symbolize the purity of Lord Buddha. The artist continues to infuse his religious beliefs and his desire to enrich Buddhism in Thailand into his contemporary art design.
• Baan Dam Museum - If booking the Baan Dam (Black Museum) program, it is a 207 km drive from the center of Chiang Mai city to Baan Dam (Black House), a unique creation by national artist Thawan Duchanee. Part art studio, part museum, and part home, Baan Dam is an eclectic mix of traditional northern Thai buildings interspersed with some striking modern designs. Baan Dam offers a thought-provoking blend of the playful, the surreal, and the somber. • Wat Rong Seur Ten (Blue Temple) - The Chiang Rai Blue Temple, or Wat Rong Seua Ten, is located in Rong Suea Ten in the Rimkok district, a few kilometers outside Chiang Rai. It is a relatively new temple, still under construction, although its main hall is now complete. Its stunning blue interior, featuring a large white Buddha, is particularly striking. The paintings are reminiscent of the style seen inside the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun). The impressive standing white Buddha at the back is also remarkable. With the White Temple, the Black House, and the Blue Temple, Chiang Rai is undoubtedly the city of colorful temples!
• Mae Khachan Hot Spring - Mae Khachan Hot Springs is located in Wiang Pa Pao, Chiang Rai. The thermal waters can be enjoyed at several locations in this district, conveniently situated next to the main Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai Highway 118 (on both sides of the road). Most tour operators describe this as an attraction, but it is also a necessary stop for drivers needing a break halfway to Chiang Rai.
