It will be harder to visit Elafonisi beach for children, persons with health problems or walking difficulties. Elafonisi is located in the southwestern most tip of Crete. It is an oblong peninsula, which often breaks in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island. Exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise water, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. The sand is pinkish in many places, taking its color from millions of crushed shells. Near the breaking point of the peninsula, the sea creates a small lagoon which you can cross the lagoon in order to reach the island. The island is a mile long, ending in a rocky outcrop. Elafonisi is a Natura 2000 protected area home to more than 100 rare plants and a great shelter for rare loggerhead sea turtles.

A shallow lagoon allows visitors to walk to Elafonisi Island and explore its beautiful beaches.
The journey to the island passes through the breathtaking Topolia Gorge, charming villages, and diverse, captivating landscapes. This tour is designed not only to visit a beach but to make the journey itself an unforgettable experience.
Parking will be 1/4 mile (1/2 km) away, requiring a short hike along a dirt path to reach the beach. On the return trip, there will be a stop for lunch.
Upon request, there is an option to visit a winery, olive oil factory for a tasting tour, or a monastery.

Wonderful! Would book again! - Stella was wonderful! She picked us up right on time and took us to Elafonisi beach which was beautiful! She did a great job getting us there early before it go too crowded. We bought chairs with umbrellas and enjoyed the day. We walked back to the vehicle where she took us to a local restaurant in Crete that had amazing food! We loved getting to experience a local meal before getting back on our cruise ship! Would 100% book with her again!!

Great beach experience!!! - Peter is an excellent guide. His English is top notch. He is very enthusiastic. The beach was lovely and an excellent “hike” to the chapel on the hill beyond the beach. Lunch was very tasty and reasonably priced.

Elafonisi Beach - Tsampas took us on an amazing excursion to Elafonisi Beach. The ride through the Cretan countryside was breathtaking, and Tsampas expertly navigated the twisting roads while narrating our surroundings. He got us there ahead of the buses and crowds so we enjoyed a bit of time feeling like we were the only ones on the beach. Elafonisi Beach is a must see. Crystal clear blue and green waters with beautiful sand beaches tinged with pink sand and rugged coastline. We didn’t think the trip could get better, but then Tsampas took us to a picturesque restaurant with such delicious food! Tsampas explained the dishes and pointed out the local ones so we truly had an authentic experience. Tsampas is a fun, friendly, expert tour guide who got us back to our ship in plenty of time. A+ trip that I highly recommend! Thank you, Tsampas!

Our tour of Crete with George was absolutely perfect! From the moment he picked us up in a comfortable, air-conditioned van, we knew we were in great hands. George, who was born and raised on the island, has an incredible wealth of knowledge about Crete and shared fascinating stories and history along the way. His English was excellent, and he was so friendly and attentive, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves.
The highlight, of course, was the drive out to stunning Elafonisi Beach — one of the most gorgeous places we’ve ever seen. You will need to bring your own towels and a change of clothes is recommended as well. George let us relax and spend as much time as we wanted there before taking us to a small local restaurant for lunch. He introduced us to authentic Cretan dishes and shared the background of the island’s culinary traditions, which made the meal even more special.
This tour was the perfect mix of natural beauty, local culture, and warm hospitality. Highly recommend booking with George — he made our Crete experience unforgettable.

Great Experience! - Great experience with Sofia! Elafonisi Beach did not disappoint! Very lovely, relaxing and beautiful day! Left early to avoid crowds, so smart! Stops along the way for breaks, souvenirs, local sights. Lunch at a traditional Greek family restaurant was delicious. Shout out to Sofia, thank you again, a highlight of our trip, thanks to you!

Elafonisi Beach private tour - Our tour guide Sofia was very obliging and stopped at many places of interest along the way to Elafonisi Beach. There we were given free time to relax & explore parts of this beautiful beach after which we were driven back to Chania to have lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy more free time to explore the old town. Her English was very good and she shared her local knowledge and love for Chania with us.

Great Beach Day with Sofia!! - We went to Elafonisi Beach with one of the company's main guides Sofia! Sofia had everything planned from us, made sure we stopped when we needed to and took some pictures inside a gorge and then took us to one of the best beaches we have seen (and we have travelled a lot) Elafonisi! Absolutely marvellous our kids completely loved it! In the end we stopped at a village restaurant where we had a fantastic lunch!! Thanks to Sofia, she made our day trip as our best day in the island we had!!
