- Charleston City Market - Established in the late 18th Century, the Charleston City Market is a National Historic Landmark that covers four city blocks. Hosting over 300 vendors daily, it is one of the oldest and largest public markets in the United States.
- Fort Sumter National Monument - Fort Sumter is a sea fort constructed on a man-made island to protect Charleston, South Carolina from naval attacks. Its construction began after the War of 1812 when the British attacked Washington by sea. Although incomplete in 1861, it was the site where the Battle of Fort Sumter initiated the American Civil War. We will view it from the sea wall, but not visit the fort as it is located in the middle of Charleston Harbor.
- Old Slave Mart Museum - The existing building was once part of Ryan’s Mart, a complex that included a brick-walled yard, a four-story building with a slave jail known as a “barracoon,” a kitchen, and a morgue. We will explore and share stories about the mart but will not enter.
