Chengdu - Lijiang City Highlights (L)

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport - The driver will be waiting in the lobby of your Chengdu hotel with a sign displaying your name, ready to transfer you to the airport for a 2.5-hour flight to Lijiang.

Upon arrival in Lijiang, your tour guide will be at the exit of the arrival hall with a sign displaying your name. You will then board your private vehicle and head directly to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

Lijiang Impressions Show - After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, you will experience the incredible Lijiang Impressions Show. This daytime performance uses the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as its backdrop. Over 100 horses and 500 non-professional peasant actors from 16 local villages and more than 10 ethnic minorities deliver an outstanding performance. They showcase their culture, history, and customs through unique movements and original songs. When booking, you can select your preferred tickets for the show.

Yulong (Jade Dragon) Mountain - Spend the remainder of the day exploring the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, with its 13 peaks, is the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. Viewed from Lijiang Old Town, the snow-covered and misty mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence its name. Approximately half of China’s plant species originated in Yunnan province, and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is home to about half of these, including trees, flowers, and medicinal herbs and plants. The mountain’s numerous ravines, creeks, cliffs, and meadows all have Naxi names and serve as settings for the myths and legends of the people who have inhabited the plain for 1,000 years.

Gain insights and learn its legendary stories from your tour guide. Upon arrival, take the convenient cable car to the scenic viewing point (4506 meters) and marvel at the spectacular glacier and mountain views. You can choose to hike up to 4680 meters via wooden stairs. When ready to leave, descend by cable car.

After the tour concludes, you will be transferred to your hotel in Lijiang.

Lijiang-The First Bend of the Yangtze-Tiger Leaping Gorge (B,L)

The First Bend of Yangtze River - Meet your private guide in the hotel’s lobby in Lijiang and head directly to Tiger Leaping Gorge, which takes about 2 hours. Relax and enjoy the scenery along the way.

On the journey, you will stop at The First Bend of the Yangtze. Rushing down from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, known as “the roof of the world,” the Yangtze enters Yunnan from the northwest, where it meets the Lancang River and Nu River. Together, they traverse the high mountains and deep gorges of the Hengduan Mountains.

Take in the breathtaking scenery and pause for photos.

Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia) - Continue to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is divided into three sections based on its topographical features: the upper gorge, the middle gorge, and the lower gorge. The most renowned scenic spots are the Mouth of the Gorge and the Tiger Leaping Pebble, both located in the upper gorge. Today, you will explore the upper Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Upon arrival, follow your tour guide to learn the legendary stories about the gorge, then walk approximately 1.5 miles (2.6 km) to the Tiger Leaping Rock. Along the way, enjoy the stunning views of the gorge and feel free to stop for photos.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then you will be transferred back to your hotel in Lijiang.

Lijiang City Highlights (B, L)

Old Town of Lijiang - China - Your English-speaking guide will meet you in your Lijiang hotel’s lobby, then explore the Old Town of Lijiang.

The Old Town of Lijiang is a well-preserved ancient city of ethnic minorities with a rich culture. The town was first established in the late Song Dynasty (960 - 1279) and has a history of over 800 years. Due to the blend of multinational culture and the development of the Naxi ethnic minority, the buildings here incorporate the finest elements of Han, Bai, and Tibetan architectural styles into a unique Naxi style.

Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture - Stroll around the old town with your tour guide, stopping at the Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture. The museum is dedicated to the history of the Naxi people and their pictographic language and animist Dongba religion. Explore the museum and learn about Naxi culture and art.

Mufu Palace - Next, visit the Mufu Palace. The Mu Family, the top rulers of the Naxi minority, governed Lijiang from the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, spanning 470 years with 22 generations of rulers. The current Mufu Palace represents ancient central China architectural style from the Ming Dynasty, while also retaining characteristics of the Tang and Song Dynasties. Inside, the details reflect the minority features of the Bai and Naxi groups. Besides its architectural value, it also serves as an exceptional plant museum with ancient trees and extraordinary plants. The garden combines imperial style with Suzhou’s style. Explore the palace and learn its history and stories from your tour guide.

Black Dragon Pond Park - Then, explore the Black Dragon Pond Park. Follow your tour guide to discover ancient monuments such as the Longshen Temple, the Deyue Pavilion, the Suocui Bridge, and the Hanyue Stage. Enjoy the stunning view of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from the park.

Lijiang Lion Rock - If you choose to end your tour in Lijiang, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then proceed to Lion Hill Park. The Lion Mountain resembles a sleeping lion from afar, offering a picturesque view.

Wangu Pavilion - Reach the mountaintop and ascend to the Wangu Pavilion, a five-storied all-wooden structure with five elegant eaves. The tower is considered the No.1 Domed-shaped Structure in China. Prepare your camera and enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding areas, including the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the Old Town, and the Naxi minority villages.

Wenchang Palace - Continue to Wenchang Palace. Originally built in 1725, the palace was once a venue for exams and folk lectures during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Stroll around the area, then move to Twin-Stone Garden, where you can find a large waterwheel and bas-relief commemorating the civilization of the Naxi nationality.

After the tour concludes, you can choose to return to Chengdu, and you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight. If you decide to end your tour in Lijiang, you will be transferred to your hotel in Lijiang (please book your own hotel).
