Chengdu Museum New Building - The museum features three permanent exhibitions: “Flower Heavy Jinguan City: Chengdu History and Culture Exhibition (Ancient, Modern, Folk Customs)”, “Shadow Dance and Puppet Show Daqian: Chinese Shadow Puppet Exhibition”, and “Man and Nature: Behling Donation Exhibition”. It boasts a comprehensive collection ranging from the Neolithic Age to the Republic of China, including historical artifacts, shadow puppets, and modern paintings and calligraphy.
The new museum spans 6 floors, offering various spaces such as public activity areas, exhibition areas, and cultural relics storage. The second to fourth floors house the main exhibitions of the new Chengdu Museum, with the second and third floors dedicated to the “Chengdu History and Culture Exhibition” (ancient section), and the fourth floor focusing on Chengdu’s modern history and folk culture. The “China Shadow Play Museum” on the fifth floor is the largest shadow play museum globally. -
Wangjianglou Park - This traditional park offers a chance to experience the relaxed local lifestyle by playing Mahjong with a guide in a local teahouse. Mahjong culture in Sichuan is deeply ingrained in the community. In Chengdu, traditional teahouses have gradually been replaced by the rise of mahjong parlors. Whether in official settings or on the streets, mahjong tables serve as a bridge for communication, showcasing their inherent friendliness and natural appeal.
The widespread mahjong culture in Sichuan makes Sichuan Mahjong an essential aspect. This distinctive style of mahjong is not only cherished by locals but also enjoys nationwide acclaim. Its rich cultural heritage and unique charm make Sichuan Mahjong a significant emblem of Sichuan culture.
