Excellent Day Out - highly recommended! - Rajesh has been excellent. His communication prior to my excursion was superb: he confirmed my pickup venue and time well in advance which was both helpful and reassuring.
The day itself was excellent. Rajesh was waiting for me ahead of time and walked me to our vehicle and driver for the day. The vehicle was clean and was well stocked with bottled water.
Driver was brilliant - navigating the insane Indian traffic safely and with no signs of stress. Driver was also super courteous.
The guys had no issues stopping for breaks on the long journey down to Pondicherry.
Pondicherry itself was lovely - totally matched my expectations: calmer than Chennai.
Rajesh was a great guide, spending time at each of scheduled sites to explain the history and back stories.
I highly recommend Rajesh and his team: they ensured I got the most from my day and made me feel safe at all times.

Excellent use of time! - Vanaraj picked me up right on time from the Radisson in Pondicherry. He was friendly and welcoming! (Note, I’m a tourist from Chicago.) Our personal driver then arrived and we set off for our tour. We visited the French Quarter, Tamil Quarter, Rock Beach, and Auroville. Along the way, Vanaraj told me interesting and important stories about the history of each site. We saw temples, churches, statues, and more. He also took me to a great shop where I was able to buy authentic gifts for the fam. Vanaraj has excellent English and was very patient when I needed him to repeat something. The tour is priced very fairly. I highly recommend this experience!

Exceptional Pondicherry Day Trip with Rajesh - I couldn’t have asked for a better day exploring Pondicherry than with Rajesh from Wonder Tours & Travel. From our WhatsApp check-in at 7 am to my return at 6 pm, every moment was thoughtfully planned and genuinely enjoyable. Rajesh’s warm hospitality and vast knowledge turned a simple day trip into an immersive adventure.
We began promptly at 7:30 am in my hotel lobby, where Rajesh greeted me and escorted me to our private vehicle. A 45-minute drive brought us to Geetham Veg Restaurant for a delicious South Indian breakfast and strong filter coffee—perfect fuel for the day ahead.
En route to Pondicherry, Rajesh wove in stories of Mahabalipuram’s ancient monuments visible from the road. A quick stop at a roadside coconut stand offered the freshest, sweetest coconut water I’ve ever tasted. By mid-morning, we arrived at Aurobindo Ashram, paid our respects, and took a few quiet moments to meditate.
Rajesh then unpacked Pondicherry’s rich tapestry of history, guiding me through pre-colonial settlements, the French colonial era, and post-colonial transformation. We strolled into the vibrant Manakula Vinayagar Temple, explored the neatly curated exhibits at Puducherry Museum, and wandered the peaceful paths of Bharathi Park while admiring the Napoleonic-era Aayi Mandapam.
Our adventure continued with a snapshot beside the Mahatma Gandhi Statue on Promenade Beach and a scrumptious slice of fresh orange bread from a local bakery. At the Sri Aurobindo Paper Factory, I watched artisans craft paper by hand and picked up a few souvenirs.
Lunch at Tanto Pizzeria was perfect —cheesy slices, pasta, terrace views, and good conversation with Rajesh. Then we ventured to Auroville, hiking 30 minutes through grazing goats and cows to reach the serene Matri Mandir. A quick 7UP pit-stop revived me before our journey home. A final treat of piping hot masala tea and buttery biscuits rounded out the perfect day.

A day in Pondicherry. Picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Rajesh was a very patient guide and well knowledgeable! - It’s a long trip but, our guide Rajesh made sure we were well fed throughout the adventure. They were very patient while we took a plethora of pictures. They made sure we hit every place that was advertised on the trip. It was a very nice touch that they were able to pick us up at our hotel and drop us off there as well.

Nice enough, but basic - Nice enough trip, but very basic. No in depth on any of the information provided. For example, the handmade paper tour didn’t go through any details and steps to show me how it was made.
Expected a nicer vehicle for this price and long drive. Had a car rather than the Innova that rides better.

Not worth the money. - The driver who was also the quide was nice but there was no introduction or even asking our names. He just started with the history of Pondycherry without even taking a breath. We were 3 hours away so didn’t remember all of it. We stopped at - Sri Aurobindo Ashram which was nice, from there we went to the Ganesh temple but he told us to leave our shoes at the ashram said it was just round. But the walk was at least 10 mins. My husband was barefoot on the road but luckily i had got cloth slip on. It was most uncomfortable. There was place to leave our shoes outside the temple. .the temple was wonderful. Then went to walk along the Promenade which was lovely, Next was the church which was lovely. But again he made us take our shoes off outside. We noticed no one else had taken them off. We had to walk over to where our shoes was which meant walking over hot stone. My soles were burning , then had lunch but the place he picked had limited food which took have as per timimg. But luckily we dont eat much. The drive home was fine, even stopped at the chemist to get a cream for my Sore feet. His driving was good & safe. He seemed in a hurry to get back home.
The cost of the trip was £ 280.00 for 2 persons.
