Great tour of some African American neighborhoods with Steve - Steve took us on a tour of parts of Chicago that might have been difficult to see otherwise. Starting at downtown Chicago he took us through Bronzeville, describing the great migration north of African Americans, and showed us sites such as Ida B Wells' home, Nat King Cole's home, and the birthplace of Gospel music, that make this neighborhood so significant. Then on to the Kenwood neighborhood with the homes of Barack Obama, Louis Farrakhan and Muhammed Ali, and then in Hyde Park the childhood home of Emmet Till. We were looking to understand some of the African American history of the city of Chicago, and we got that with Steve.

Exceptional and authentic tour! - We absolutely loved this experience! Mr Steve was an amazing guide, witty, authentic, and full of insight. Deeply connected to the South Side, where he grew up, he brought a perspective that captured both its rich past and its vibrant present offering an authentic glimpse into a part of Chicago that’s often misunderstood. His mix of humor, sharp sarcasm, storytelling, and pride in the city made the tour both eye-opening and fun. We left with a deeper understanding of Chicago and big smiles. Highly recommended!

Deceived/Disappointing - Steve is a very passionate man. However, he needs to tone it down a bit. His passion and animation can be perceived as aggressive. The advertisement doesn't match the tour at all. More time should be spent at the african american museum, and less time looking at and talking about "public housing communities." I do not recommend this tour.

DONT COME HERE. - Me and my school went here for a trip. Reason this is not even a 2-star is because when we were waiting for our musical, 1619; the rise of the people, think wait times dipped into a half hour. It was just ok. Also one of my classmates found out in the upstairs kiddie area (there was complete pandemonium when you put 3 classes of 5th graders in there) they put ACTUAL PLASTIC PRIVATE PARTS on the kiddie baby dolls that were supposed to teach us about responsibility. All it did was scar me. Just like a black Chicago mayor animatronic. (*shudder*) dont come here unless ya want long wait times and horrifying experiences.
