An Unforgettable Cultural Experience in Chichicastenango - Our Chichicastenango Market Tour was truly one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. The scenery on the way to Chichi was absolutely breathtaking. We had a coffee stop at Katok Ingreso, and we were so taken by the atmosphere, we actually asked to stop again on the way back to our hotel. Our guide was exceptional—warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly insightful. He took the time to explain cultural nuances, tribal differences, and local practices, giving us a deeper appreciation for the traditions of the region. His storytelling added so much richness to the day. One of the most special moments was enjoying authentic homemade food prepared by a local family who brings their dishes to the market to sell. Sharing a meal with them was an experience we’ll never forget. We also had the opportunity to witness spiritual ceremonies, explore traditional areas of worship, and even visit local graveyards—an eye‑opening look into the spiritual heritage of the community. Overall, this was an amazing day filled with fascinating sights, incredible people, and unforgettable food. If you’re visiting Guatemala, this tour is an absolute must.

Great Market and Atitlan trip - with service above and beyond. - My daughter and I did a two day trip to Chichicastenango market and then onto Lake Atitlan. We were recommended this company by a trusted previous guide. Our driver/guide for the two days was Esteban and we drove in a very comfortable and powerful vehicle. The whole trip was really excellent. Esteban was a very good guide and everything worked to plan very well. The destinations were incredibly interesting. Then at the end of the trip the company dealt extremely well with a situation where a bag containing valuables was left in the car. They found it and acted very quickly to forward the bag to friends who were still in Antigua, who are reuniting us with this bag. I’m so grateful to them for helping us with this. I want to thank the company and Esteban for a wonderful trip.

The best tour company, a fantastic experience from the very first email to our return home. Can’t recommend enough. - When we contacted Columbus Guatemala Travel from our home in Massachusetts, we weren’t sure what to expect. This would be our first time returning to Guatemala with our children, now teenagers, whom we adopted from Guatemala as babies. We got more than we could ever have hoped for. The entire team listened to our needs, made recommendations that were spot on, and accommodated every request. They were the most responsive business I’ve ever worked with and their kindness was apparent from the very first communication. The guides became fast friends. Carlos, Esteban, Luis, and JJ were so knowledgeable and ready to share this amazing country with us. In just a week we saw Tikal, Lake Atitlan, and Antigua. We hiked a mountain for sunrise, horsebacked up a volcano, visited churches and markets and ruins, and took in the beauty of the people and the landscape. If you are considering using this business as your guide, don’t hesitate. It will be one of the best decisions you’ll make.

Fantastic Food Tour! - A small group of us had a private tour with Cathy and she was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and personable. She grew up in Antigua and knew the area and all the great spots to get bites to eat and where not to eat. I couldn't highly recommend booking a trip more and especially with Cathy. There were meat eaters, vegetarians and a vegan in the group and the destinations and foods we had catered to diet and the whole experience was very personalized!

If you can go on December 21, the better 🤩❤️‍🔥 - Absolutely reliable. Everyone at the agency is super friendly and we had a spectacular day 🤩 This is a visit that is definitely worth it. Even the pantheon is beautiful! 😎 Juan is a great guide: friendly, patient, fun, cultured... everything you expect when you want to get to know and learn about another country. We highly recommend asking about him 😉

Not worth the effort to get there - Very unimpressed. Just did not compare to markets in Istanbul, Guamote in Ecuador, Omdurman in Khartoum. Everything is relative. The day trip from Panajachel to Chichi was not worth it.
