• Gran Juego de Pelota - This is more than just a playing field; its cultural significance is highlighted by the six sculpted reliefs along the walls. Upon closer inspection, scenes of ball players become visible.

• Tzompantli - Tzompantli translates to skull rack, and it was precisely that. It was a place where the heads of sacrificial victims were displayed. The platform is adorned with carvings of warriors carrying human heads, skulls, snakes, and eagles on all sides.

• Eagles and Jaguars Platform - This square platform, with stairways on each side, was likely used for ceremonial activities such as dance, rituals, or public speeches, and was never topped with a temple. It was designed as a flat stage for public viewing.

• El Caracol - El Caracol is one of the more intriguing structures in Chichen Itza. Atop this building are the remnants of what was once an observatory. From here, the Mayans observed the stars and attempted to predict the future based on planetary movements.

• Chichen Itza - This sacred site was one of the most significant Mayan centers on the Yucatán peninsula. Over its nearly 1,000-year history, various cultures have left their imprint on the city. The Maya and Toltec perspectives on the world and universe are reflected in their stone monuments and artistic creations. The blend of Mayan construction techniques with new elements from central Mexico makes Chichen Itza a prime example of Mayan-Toltec civilization in Yucatán. Several structures have endured, including the Warriors’ Temple, El Castillo, and the circular observatory known as El Caracol.

• Temple of the Warriors - Resembling an elaborate wedding cake, the Temple of Warriors features three thick tiers at the base with a small temple on top. It also boasts around 200 columns, each adorned with carvings of Toltec warriors in various scenes.

• Red House - Also referred to as the House of Little Holes due to the latticework on the top that resembles small holes. The Mayan name for the building is Chichanchob, which possibly means ‘small holes’.

• The Ossuary - This pyramid is named for the numerous human remains discovered here by archaeologists. Beneath the pyramid, seven tombs were found, believed to belong to members of Mayan high society.

• El Caracol - El Caracol is one of the more fascinating buildings in Chichen Itza. Atop this structure, you can observe the remains of what was originally a cylindrical observatory.

• El Osario - Also known as the Ossuary, El Osario earned its name from the many human and animal bones found on site. It is also referred to as the High Priest’s Grave.

• Las Monjas - The Nunnery, or Las Monjas, is one of the largest buildings in Chichen Itza. It is also one of the most archaeologically significant, due to the vast number of texts inscribed on the walls, many of which mention a ruler named Kakupakal.

• La Iglesia - One of the most photographed structures at Chichen Itza, its exterior is almost entirely covered with decorative veneer.
