Valle Nevado, the largest ski resort in South America, is situated 46 kilometers east of Santiago, Chile. It boasts exceptional snow quality due to its elevation and orientation, along with a favorable climate, featuring 80% clear days during the season. Valle Nevado’s history dates back to 1987, and in 1988, the ski center opened its doors, nestled in the Andes and inspired by the Les Arcs winter resort and other French winter resorts. Since 1998, Valle Nevado has evolved into a comprehensive center, and in 2001, the Andes Express chairlift was inaugurated, marking the first detachable lift in South America, setting it apart from other ski centers in the region.
- Farellones - Situated in a valley in the Andes, Farellones features numerous wooden houses and cabins, creating a charming village atmosphere. Its cable car system transports winter sports enthusiasts to the ski slopes of Cerro El Colorado, catering to families, beginners, and experienced skiers alike. In the summer, outdoor adventure seekers can explore biking and hiking trails or enjoy ziplining. The area offers rustic hotels and delightful restaurants.
