Orongo - Orongo village is situated on one side of the Rano Kau volcano crater. It is one of the island’s two main sites, known for hosting the Birdman ceremony.
Rano Kau - Located on the island’s southwest side, this volcano’s crater is one of Rapa Nui’s most stunning natural landscapes. Spanning 1.5 km, it is the largest reserve of Rapa Nui’s endemic flora, and its lake was a vital source of drinking water in ancient times.
Ahu Vinapu - This archaeological site on Easter Island is renowned for its precise stonework, reminiscent of Inca architecture. It features ancient ruins and a significant moai platform, providing insights into the island’s early Polynesian culture.

Ahu Akahanga - Situated on the island’s southeast coast, this site is considered emblematic. It offers insights into how the village was organized around the ceremonial center or ahu. Observing the fallen giants is a remarkable experience.
Ahu Tongariki - Opposite Rano Raraku, this is the largest reconstructed platform on the island. Ahu Tongariki is the most impressive moai platform, with fifteen standing statues facing the island and their backs to the Pacific Ocean.
Rano Raraku - The only volcanic cone tuff quarry on the island, this site enabled the large-scale construction of moai. Rano Raraku is home to the quarry where moai were crafted and transported to the island’s ahu (ceremonial platforms).
Ahu Te Pito Kura - Measuring 11 meters long and weighing about 90 tons, this site features the largest moai transported from Rano Raraku: Ahu o Paro. Nearby is the famous rounded stone, Te Pito ‘o te Henua, said to have been brought to the island by ancestors.
Anakena Beach - Known for its warm turquoise waters and coral sand, this is the island’s main beach and was once the ancestral home of the Miru Araki royal family. The ahu Nau Nau is one of the island’s most refined ahu due to the craftsmanship of its moai.
Full Day Tour
Puna Pau - This quarry provided the red volcanic stone used for carving the Pu Kao, or moai’s hair. Here, 23 cylindrical Pu Kao prototypes are found in early carving stages, facilitating transport to the ahu. The site offers a stunning view of Hanga Roa village.
Ahu Akivi - One of the few ceremonial platforms not by the sea, its seven moai were restored to their standing positions by archaeologists William Mulloy and Gonzalo Figueroa, with the Rapa Nui community. These moai are uniquely aligned with astronomical guidance, facing the setting sun.
Ana Te Pahu - Formed by lava channels, Ana Te Pahu is Rapa Nui’s largest cave, connecting four underground chambers. Its size made it ideal in ancient times, as evidenced by several umu (old kitchens) used for food preparation. Known as the “cave of the bananas,” it features many banana trees at the entrance.
Ahu Te Peu - This archaeological site remains unrestored, allowing visitors to see it as the ancient inhabitants left it after internal conflicts led to the moai statues’ toppling. The site once housed a vibrant village, with the impressive 43-meter-long boathouse or hare paenga named Tore Tahuna, attributed to the renowned Ariki Tu’u Ko Ihu by local tradition.
Ana Kakenga - Ana Kakenga is a fascinating volcanic cave formed by lava flowing into the sea, creating two openings facing the cliff. Stretching about 50 meters, it once served as a “kionga,” a refuge in ancient times. This geological wonder offers insight into the island’s volcanic history.
Ana Te Pora - This volcanic cave, with its main entrance about 100 meters from the parking lot, was used as both a shelter and ceremonial site in ancient times.
Half Day Tour
Ahu Tongariki - Experience the breathtaking sunrise over the Moai statues of Ahu Tongariki.
During summer (October to March), the sun rises behind the platform, while in other months, it rises from Poike volcano. Winter skies may be less clear.
