After traveling for about an hour, the group will reach Chinchero, a quaint indigenous Andean village situated at an elevation of 3,765 meters. Chinchero was a significant administrative and residential hub during the Inca period, constructed by Túpac Inca Yupanqui. It is renowned for its agricultural terraces, temples, and Inca roads that link to other key sites in the Sacred Valley.
- Moray - A 35-minute drive will take the group to the next stop, Moray. Moray is believed to have served as an experimental agricultural laboratory. The Incas likely cultivated various crops on each platform, studying their growth under different climatic conditions.
- Maras - After a 30-minute journey, the group will arrive at the Maras salt works, also known as the famous “Salt Mines” in the Maras district. The Salt of Maras originates from an ancient ocean trapped in the mountains millennia ago, which flows through a spring into the 4,200 pools of the Salineras de Maras. These pools are managed and harvested by Maras community families using a technique that has been passed down for 600 years.
- Urubamba - Following a 45-minute drive, the group will reach the province of Urubamba, where there will be free time to enjoy a buffet lunch featuring a variety of national and local dishes.
- Ollantaytambo - After 30 minutes of travel, the group arrives at Ollantaytambo, a picturesque village that retains the layout of Inca structures, located at an altitude of 2,770 meters in the Urubamba province. Ollantaytambo was a strategic Inca center in the Sacred Valley, established in the 15th century by Pachacútec for military and agricultural purposes, and later expanded. It played a crucial role during the Spanish conquest as a resistance point under Manco Inca, achieving a victory against the Spanish before a subsequent retreat. Today, it is a popular tourist destination and the gateway to Machu Picchu, preserving its Inca urban design.
- Pisac - After a journey of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, the group will arrive at the beautiful site of Pisac. At the Pisac archaeological center, there are houses, aqueducts, roads, bridges, towers, barracks, a cemetery, ceremonial centers, and a large area of agricultural terraces. Pisac is also noted for its numerous towers or viewpoints scattered throughout the area. In the village of Pisac, there will be a stop to admire the craftsmanship and make optional purchases. The return to Cusco is expected around 19:00 hours approximately. The tour concludes near the Plaza Mayor.
