Awesome Experience With Very Experienced Guide! - Three friends and I took this tour on a Sunday at 11:00 with another couple. The boat was beautiful and comfortable and very spacious--plenty for the maximum 6 passengers. Mike, our captain and guide, is a Chincoteague native and was so knowlegeable about the ponies and not only relayed interesting information but told us great personal stories as well. We got up close with more than one herd on the North Island first thing and had ample opportunity to get great pics of lots of ponies and foals. At the next stop, we saw even more ponies from a little farther away, and then he found us a herd on the less populated South Island as well! He also pointed out an eagle and other birds. All in all, this tour was the highlight of our short visit to the island!

Passonate about ponies and safety! - Captain Mike's passion for the ponies and their heritage as well as his tremendous capabilities as a captain made our trip spectacular. We saw ponies up close and personal. It surpassed all expectations and we had a great time!

A great morning on the water - I chose Up the Bay Tours because I had read that Captain Mike was photographer. Not only are his photos beautiful, but when he learned I was also a photographer, he made a special effort to be sure I got photos of the ponies. It was a great trip: Captain Mike is energetic, knowledgeable about the area, and especially about the ponies, which is why most of us come to Chincoteague. We learned a great deal about the area and had a great morning on the water. I highly recommend this tour.

Captain Mike is the tour guide you want. - Captain MIKE. When you do a tour like this , you want expert knowledge from a local. This is why you choose Up the Bay tour. Captain Mike is knowledgable, friendly, funny and candid. Open to all sorts of questions, with his local knowledge. The boat , a Tritoon craft , is stable and very comfortable. We were able to see both the north and south herds, and Captain Mike is like an encyclopedic of knowledge about the individuals of the herd. Blankets, check , optical gear, check, knowledge of where to look for the ponies. Check. Smooth and professional boating ability, Check. This is the tour you want. Look no further. Great tour! - It was super windy today, but Mike our captain made it a comfortable and fun tour. We saw the ponies up close. Mike is very excited to show us a newborn foal. So cool! We loved it.

A Day on the Water and Lots of Ponies to See! - What a great day! Had been to Chincoteague several times but a very long time ago. Not once in our past visits did we get to see any ponies. Mike finally broke that unlucky streak. This time we got up close and personal. He was determined to find them for us and he did! He knew all the ponies by name, saw colts only a few days old and a soon to be momma. His boat is beautiful and comfortable and his personality is fun. Definitely a tour to put on the top of your lists!
