Departure from Chivay is scheduled for approximately 1:15 pm. On the journey from Chivay to Puno, the following stops will be made:
- Abra Patapampa - “Andes Viewpoint”: A stop will be made to admire the “Volcanoes” Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca Hualca, Mismi (the source of the Amazon River), and the Chila mountain range. “Apachetas” can also be seen (in ancient times, travelers left these small stone towers as offerings to their gods).
- Tocra - Tocrapampa: A technical stop will be made to observe South American camelids such as llamas and alpacas grazing in their natural habitat. With some luck, vicuñas, privileged for having the finest and most expensive fiber in the textile industry, may also be seen.
- Patahuasi - “Patahuasi” (Pampa Cañahuas): Located in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, behind the Chachani volcano, vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas can be found. With a bit of luck, foxes and guanacos might be spotted in the distance. Here, guests can enjoy hot drinks made from natural herbs like chachacoma and muña. Restrooms are available, and there is an opportunity to purchase crafts and souvenirs.
- Laguna Lagunillas - “Lagunillas”: This viewpoint offers a panoramic view of small lakes that appear as mirrors reflecting the sky. It is also the habitat of Andean flamingos and other birds (depending on the season), providing a great opportunity for photography.
- Puno - Finally, arrival in the city of Puno.
Arrival in Puno is expected between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. If the hotel is located in the Historic Center of Puno, guests can be directed to their hotel.

Excellent tour guide on the trip. - Tour from Puno to Chivay with Natalia Tourist Guide. Very interesting tour where you can appreciate local fauna and flora, a beautiful landscape of the highlands as well as the views of the impressive volcanoes of the tour. Everything was perfect and I would like to highlight the level of explanations, help, knowledge and sympathy of Natalia who helped us, informed, explained and guided from start to finish making the journey safe, enjoyable and very pleasant, both inside the bus and at the stops of the points of interest of the journey.

Trip Puno - Chivay : super! - I had a very good trip with Carlos Pinchito to drive and Natalia to guide, with breaks to look at the landscape. I recommend this bus agency!

Bufrom Cabanaconde/Chivay to Puno - The only bus company offering a direct connection to Puno. There's one bus from Cabanaconde (9am, 180 soles) and another one from Chivay (1.15pm, 130 soles; you can get to Chivay from Cabanaconde by one of two bus companies or by taxi collectivo, all costs 10 soles but buses are slower). Another option is with one of agencies which offer rather a full day trip than just a transport, prices start from $45.
It's cheaper to go to Arequipa (buses cost 25 soles) from where many buses depart to Puno (25-75 soles), but it'll double the distance.
Native Express's bus is modern and comfortable (140 degree seats, toilet, USB plug) but if there's less than 18 people you will travel by minibus which, I suppose, isn't so comfortable. There's a guide on board and bus stops on three miradores on the way.

We recommend it! - Thank you very much to our guide Henry and driver Alberto! We were picked up in Chivay and the journey to Puno was very didactic! We made a few stops with good recommendations from our guide. It was very friendly until the end and we recommend taking the tea Picchu picchu!

Maravillosa - The guide 100% friendly, very welcoming and always concerned, explains very well in detail each route and presents very good disposition in case of doubts, on the other hand, the driver generates a very safe driving , was prudent , clean and heated bus

Good option to go from Chivay to Puno - Good option to get directly from Colca Canyon to Puno. In my opinion, the ride is just a little dragging. But the stops were generally good and the guide also interesting. Bus is very modern with plenty of space. Just a little expensive overall, but there aren't really any alternatives.

An “OK” way to get from Chivay to Puno - The bus was comfortable and the guide was very nice. Once we arrived - a transfer to our hotel was included so that was very handy. We got caught in construction traffic so it took us about 7.5 hours which was a long day but to no fault of them. The thing I was most disappointed with - the listing said that snacks, bottled water and free wifi were included. All of those items were never offered. I planned on getting work done on the bus with the free wifi so this was a huge disappointment! And I had to purchase water at a stop for a high charge because water was never offered. So just wondering why the listing includes these “free included items”? We were counting on them!

Disappointing experience on uncomfortable bus; full-bodied promises were not kept - According to the brochure, comfort is promised on the latest generation buses, including on-board WiFi and included snacks. Effectively, a 20-seater bus with poor shock absorbers and tight seating ran along the Chivay-Puno route. 6 seats had completely insufficient legroom due to the wheel arches; for a ride of over 6 hours, an imposition. Because of the piled-up luggage, the seats in the rear row of seats could not be adjusted at all, Wifi was not available and the Chargers also did not work. Snacks were not offered. From my point of view not “the best travel in Peru” but on the contrary the worst experience with a
Bus company. Too bad!
