With a history spanning over 500 years, Ginzan Onsen is one of Japan’s most enchanting hot spring towns. The well-known Notoya Ryokan is believed to have inspired scenes from Spirited Away. Traditional wooden ryokan from the Taisho to early Showa period line both sides of the Ginzan River, creating a nostalgic ambiance.
In winter, the gas lamps illuminating the snowy streets create a magical scene. Wander through the town, enjoy a soothing foot bath, and be sure to try local specialties like tempura soba. This picturesque village is also thought by fans to resemble the “Swordsmith Village” in Demon Slayer.
