Lake Lyndon - Situated near Porters Pass, Lake Lyndon is a favored destination for rainbow trout fishing, thanks to its abundant population. Nestled within the Korowai/Torlesse Tussocklands Park, the lake is fed by the Acheron River, which flows into the Rakaia River.

Castle Hill - These weathered limestone rocks, once submerged in the ocean, now stand proudly on the tussocky hills. Over time, they have eroded into the unique shapes seen today. Arthur’s Pass Village - As you travel through, enjoy the stunning backdrop of the majestic Southern Alps. Upon arrival, you can choose to walk the Devils Punch Bowl or explore the local shops.

Devils Punchbowl Walking Track - This optional walking track takes approximately 1 hour, with a gradual incline and steps leading to a dramatic 131-meter-tall waterfall. The walk through the bush and forest requires low to moderate fitness.

Otira Viaduct Lookout - Also known as Deaths Corner, the Otira Viaduct Lookout offers a breathtaking view of the national park. This impressive 440-meter-long bridge makes driving through Arthur’s Pass possible. It’s a perfect spot for photos of the bridge and surrounding landscape. You might even spot a cheeky Kea, the Alpine Parrot of New Zealand. Next, head towards the charming town of Hokitika.

Greymouth - Make a brief stop at the information center. Located in the heart of New Zealand’s South Island, Greymouth is the largest town in the West Coast Region, with a population of around 14,000. This delightful town is not only picturesque but also a key hub for the renowned TranzAlpine train service.

Cobden Beach - Cobden Beach features a rock breakwater at its southern end, creating standout waves that break right against the structure. This scenic spot is a photographer’s dream, offering a stunning backdrop for breathtaking images.

Hokitika - Experience the relaxed atmosphere that evokes nostalgia upon arrival in Hokitika. Enjoy lunch and a stroll along Hokitika’s wild beach, where black sand meets the rugged coastline. Our guides provide ample time to explore this “cool town” and its offerings.

Hokitika Gorge Walk - After lunch and some time in town, visit the hidden gem of Hokitika Gorge on the West Coast. Its striking turquoise waters exude an otherworldly beauty, nestled amidst a lush canopy of native bush. This enchanting gorge attracts nature enthusiasts and photographers eager to capture its unique essence and unforgettable vistas. After capturing those Instagram-worthy shots, proceed to the final destination of the day, Franz Josef.

Lake Ianthe - Surrounded by hills and podocarp forests, Lake Ianthe features a large flax swamp at its southern end. The lake is home to a diverse array of wetland birds, including the endangered Great Crested Grebe, which boasts one of the largest populations in New Zealand. Situated in a glacial trough, the lake is encircled by a moraine and flows into the Wanganui River through Ianthe Creek.

Franz Josef - Upon arrival in Franz Josef Village, choose between being dropped off at your accommodation or embarking on a walk to the famous Franz Josef Glacier before being dropped off.
