Marvelous in-depth tour of Châteauneuf-du-Pape - The tour begins at your hotel or a nearby location, depending on any traffic restrictions. Getting all the details beforehand from Christopher was very easy—he answered all my questions immediately. On the day of the trip, we met Laurent and set off on about an hour’s drive to the first winery. The car, a late-generation Renault Espace, was comfortable and spotless. Christopher is a fantastic host—during the drive we chatted about the region, received great recommendations for places to eat and drink in Marseille and Nice, and discussed wine along with many other topics. Our first visit was to the renowned Château La Nerthe, where we were welcomed by Laurie (apologies if I misspelled the name), a professional sommelier. She took us through the vineyards, sharing the estate’s history, explaining the soil and terroir, and detailing what makes their wines unique. We then toured the cellar, learning about the winemaking process and seeing the barrels. The tasting took place in a private room in the cellar, where we sampled around six wines—some truly exceptional. Laurie challenged us to describe the wines, which made the experience even more engaging. Lunch was at La Maisouneta, a restaurant recommended (and kindly booked for us) by our guide. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere charming, and the wine selection excellent—even by the glass. Next, we visited Château de la Gardine. Our host there, though young, was impressively knowledgeable about the winery’s philosophy. We enjoyed tasting a wide range of wines, including a fantastic vertical of their flagship red going back to 2007. In the afternoon, we toured Château Fortia, a historic estate now producing wines in a more modern style. It was fascinating to see the famous red galets (rounded stones) and some venerable old vines. I had initially been unsure about booking a Châteauneuf-du-Pape tour, fearing the area had become overly commercial. But the wineries selected—and Laurent’s guidance—made for a truly memorable experience. Whether you’re a casual wine drinker or a seasoned enthusiast, this tour is absolutely worth it.

The best of Chateauneuf du Pape - Booking a fine wine experience at Chateauneuf du Pape with OohProvence was the best thing we did. Christopher is fun, informative and a very personable guide/owner operator. He took us to three excellent wineries in the Chateauneuf du Pape region while keeping us engaged with interesting historical facts. The best part of the wine tour was the ease with which we could buy and ship our wines back to the United States. Christopher coordinated the entire process with the 3 wineries and the one common shipper saving us substantially on shipping costs. Highly recommend Christopher and Ooh Provence! Simply the best.

Amazing experience, highly recommended - My wife and I had the most incredible day on a private wine tour through the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, and it was all thanks to our exceptional guide, Laurent. From start to finish, the experience was flawless, informative, and unforgettable. Laurent is not only deeply knowledgeable about the region and its wines, but he also has a real gift for storytelling. He made the complex world of Rhône varietals, terroir, and winemaking history accessible and engaging without ever feeling overwhelming. We left each stop feeling like we had genuinely learned something, not just sipped and moved on. The selection of wineries was top-notch—beautiful, welcoming, and diverse in style. We had the chance to taste both big names and smaller producers, which gave us a well-rounded perspective on the appellation. The pace of the day was perfect: relaxed, never rushed, with time to truly enjoy each visit (and the stunning scenery along the way). If you’re even considering a wine tour in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, go with Laurent. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the region and memories you’ll talk about long after the bottles are gone.

Best Day of Our Trip! - Exceeded our already high expectations for Châteauneuf du Pape. Lovely private tour with Christopher our guide. Each winery was selected with great care, no large tour group drop off. Small family owned wineries where we were given a tour only for us in wonderful private settings. Lovely 3 course French lunch. Knowledgeable, excellent English, impeccably clean car, private tastings, good humor and great fun. We will only hire Christopher or Lauren on our next trip to Provence. Highly recommend you book them early!

I did not expect this... - I did not expect this would be so personalized and private. I expected a group of 8 and it was just my husband and myself. Laurent is so fantastic! He knew the wine staff and even took us on a tour of a small town before lunch. Lunch was an amazing small restaurant where we even got to meet and talk to the chef. This was a memorable experience and I cannot wait to schedule my next trip!

Amazing experience - My husband and I tremendously enjoyed this tour with Laurent! We enjoyed how personal the whole day was and would book another tour with this company next time we are in the region. Laurent was very personable, knowledgable, and passionate about wine. The wineries we visited were all welcoming and helped us better understand Chateauneuf Du Pape wine - we learned something new at each winery. We would highly recommend this tour!

Great guide, but the overall experience is very average and can be improved significantly. - Chris was great - very knowledgeable and helpful. We liked him a lot and he made experience good. But the selection of vineyards is questionable - the last one, Chateau Fortia, while considered to have some good vines (objectively/reviews), is not really worth visiting. Nothing to see and tasting experience is far below average at best. I contacted and tried to inquire the list before the tour and was told it will be selected closer to the tour. And when I inquired closer to the tour and asked what I was really interested in I was told the selection is set and will bee great. While first 2 chateaus are worth a visit and provide and good experience (Gardine, Nerth), overall I would not recommend and would rather pick the chateaus you like and go on your own schedule.
