Not just a fish market ! - Met up Yuan and Luke at the meeting point. Both are super friendly and attentive. Great job at taking care of our group. It’s a walking tour so be ready for it. The temple visit was just right and the site is so unique. It’s not a typical Temple. It’s worth the visit. The fish market is the main attraction of this tour. So much to see, smell and taste! Stopped at a few eateries and sampled a few delicacies. Just awesome. Food and drinks were optional and therefore not included. So plan to have cash on hands. Yuan recommend 5,000-10,000 yen’s. For our group of 3, we spent about 10K.

So full! - Jim was able to provide a great introduction to the market, both the history behind the market and the context of food within Japan’s Shinto background. And, let’s be honest - all the best stalls at the market. I took the tour at like 10am and I still wasn’t hungry at dinner time.

Do this experience - Jim Allen was a good guide. I enjoyed tasting the fresh food. I really liked the sushi. I was not much of a fan of the scallops.

Decent tour for the price - The tour we had was good as we wouldn't know all the tips and recommendations of market vendors. However, I was surprised that aside from a few samples of nuts/seaweed snacks etc., this tour didn't include any other food samples. We could have taken a free walking tour. The guide was very good (Andreas ? can't remember). That day, his partner was late and Andreas ran basically ran the whole tour with a BIG group (which would have otherwise been divided into two groups) and did a wonder job. He was passionate, informative and very professional.
