From Waves to Wonders: A Surfer’s Day in Ciwidey
When the mountains call, even a surfer must answer. Drawn by the allure of Bandung’s countryside, I embarked on a full-day excursion to Ciwidey, where nature’s beauty unfolded in ways I never expected. Join me as I recount this unforgettable journey.
A Journey Through the Heart of Ciwidey
As a seasoned traveler and surfer, I’ve always been drawn to the ocean’s call, but every now and then, the mountains and countryside beckon with a different kind of allure. This time, it was the promise of a full-day excursion in Ciwidey, Bandung’s beautiful countryside, that lured me away from the waves. The tour, led by the charismatic guide Bang, promised an escape from the bustling city life of Bandung into the serene embrace of nature.
Our journey began with a drive out of Bandung, where Bang regaled us with fascinating tidbits about the city’s history and culture. It was a refreshing change of pace from my usual surf-centric adventures, and I found myself eagerly soaking up the knowledge. Our first stop was in Ciwidey, where we visited local businesses and families. The bamboo factory and rice processing tour offered a glimpse into the traditional ways of life, and the highlight was undoubtedly the cafe serving the famous ‘Luwak’ coffee. As a coffee enthusiast, I couldn’t resist trying a cup, and it was every bit as rich and aromatic as I’d hoped.
The Enchanting White Crater
The next leg of our journey took us to Kawah Putih, or the White Crater. The walk to the highest point, standing at 2,343 meters, was invigorating, and the views were nothing short of spectacular. The crater’s ethereal beauty, with its milky turquoise waters surrounded by lush greenery, was a sight to behold. Bang’s engaging explanations added depth to the experience, making it more than just a visual feast.
After descending from the crater, we made our way to a nearby tea plantation. The visibility was sublime, and the rolling hills of tea bushes stretched as far as the eye could see. It was a photographer’s paradise, and I couldn’t resist capturing the moment. The visit to the tea plantation was followed by a closer look at the White Crater lake, where the vibrant colors of the water were even more mesmerizing up close.
A Relaxing Dip in Rengganis Crater
With our spirits high and our stomachs satisfied from a delicious and budget-friendly lunch, we headed towards Kawah Rengganis. This crater, with its hot springs, offered a different kind of relaxation. Before taking a dip, we were treated to a tour that delved into the mysterious background of the area. The mud treatment was a unique experience, and the hot springs provided a soothing end to our adventurous day.
As the afternoon sun began to set, we made our way back to Bandung, our hearts full of memories and our minds enriched with new knowledge. The Kawah Putih tour was a delightful departure from my usual surf escapades, and it reminded me of the beauty and diversity that the world has to offer. If you ever find yourself in Bandung, I highly recommend taking this journey into the heart of Ciwidey. It’s an experience that will stay with you long after the day is done.
