- Independence Square - Independence Memorial Hall, also known as Independence Commemoration Hall, is a national monument in Sri Lanka commemorating the country’s independence from British rule, with full governing responsibility restored to a Ceylonese-elected legislature on February 4, 1948. It is situated in Independence Square (formerly Torrington Square) in the Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, and also houses the Independence Memorial Museum. The monument was erected at the site where the formal ceremony marking the beginning of self-rule took place, with the opening of the first parliament by HRH Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, on February 4, 1948. At the head of the monument stands the statue of the first prime minister, Rt. Hon. Don Stephen Senanayake, “The Father of the Nation.” Most annual National Independence Day celebrations have been held here. Besides being a monument, it served as the ceremonial assembly hall for the Senate of Ceylon and the House of Representatives of Ceylon until the parliament moved to the new complex. Currently, it hosts religious events and annual national day celebrations.

- Viharamahadevi Park - Viharamahadevi Park, formerly known as Victoria Park, is a public park in Colombo, adjacent to the National Museum in Sri Lanka. It is the oldest and largest park in the Port of Colombo. Located in front of the colonial-era Town Hall building, the park is named after Queen Viharamahadevi, the mother of King Dutugamunu. The park was established on land donated to the city of Colombo by Charles Henry de Soysa during British rule and was originally named “Victoria Park” after Queen Victoria. During World War II, it was occupied by the British Army, with the Australian 17th Brigade based there. After the war, the park was restored and reopened to the public in 1951. The park once had a cricket ground used for first-class cricket between 1927 and 1995. Ceylon played against a touring English team there in 1927 and against an Australian team in 1935. The park features a large Buddha statue, a series of water fountains, a mini zoo, a children’s play area, and a BAC Jet Provost. Muscovy ducks can be seen swimming in the lake and walking on the grass. Viharamahadevi Park is the only large-scale public park in Colombo and is maintained by the Colombo Municipal Council. At its western end is the Cenotaph War Memorial, Colombo, and the Colombo Public Library. The Vihara Maha Devi Park Open Air Stadium hosts concerts and public events.
- Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct - The Old Colombo Dutch Hospital, known as The Dutch Hospital, is considered the oldest building in the Colombo Fort area, dating back to the Dutch colonial era in Sri Lanka. It is now a heritage building and a shopping and dining precinct.
- Sri Ponnambalam Vanesar Kovil - Sri Ponnambalavaneswarar Temple is located in the Kochchikade area of Colombo, Sri Lanka. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built in 1915 by Indian sculptors using black stone (granite). The temple is entirely constructed from black stones and is a remarkable place to visit and worship, reminiscent of Tamil Nadu temples in India. The temple’s design is based on the human body structure, featuring nine doors at the entrance. There is no entrance fee, but visitors can pay up to Rs 10/- to keep their expensive footwear safe at the entrance and receive a token to retrieve them. On special Pooja days, male visitors are requested to remove their T-shirts and shirts. Before entering the main temple, visitors should wash their feet with tap water available on the left side of the temple’s inner entrance.

- St Lucia’s Cathedral - St. Lucia’s Cathedral serves as the seat of the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Colombo in Sri Lanka. The cathedral is located in Kotahena, northeast of Colombo, on 18,240 sq. ft. of land. Its origins trace back to a small worship structure built during the Dutch occupation.
- Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque - Jami-Ul-Alfar Mosque, colloquially known as Samman Kottu Palli, Rathu Palliya, Red Masjid, or the Red Mosque, is a historic mosque in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Located on Second Cross Street in Pettah, it is one of the oldest mosques in Colombo and a popular tourist attraction.
