This environment attracts a variety of wildlife, including the endangered rusty-spotted cat, Indian star tortoise, and the rare Sri Lankan junglefowl, but it is most renowned for its endangered Sri Lankan elephants. These elephants frequently visit as they migrate between the park and the neighboring reserves of Kaudulla and Minneriya, offering a great chance to witness these magnificent creatures.
