- Galle Fort - The Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort, is a fortification initially constructed by the Portuguese on Sri Lanka’s southwestern coast. The original fortifications, built in the late 16th century, were quite basic. However, the fort underwent significant modifications in the 17th century by the Dutch, transforming it into one of the most important archaeological, architectural, and historic monuments illustrating European influence in Southeast Asia from the 16th to the 19th centuries. According to UNESCO, the site was recognized as a World Heritage Site for its unique display of an urban ensemble that demonstrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries, meeting criterion number four for such recognition.

Surrounded by an evergreen forest in the Southern Province, Handunugoda Tea Estate is the only estate and factory in Sri Lanka’s coastal belt. They are highly regarded as artisanal producers of luxury teas. In addition to the Signature Virgin White, the factory is also celebrated for other award-winning teas such as Ceylon Souchong, Sapphire Oolong, and Flowery Camellia. The teas are exclusively crafted and handmade by the sole proprietor, Herman Gunaratne, using tried and tested orthodox methods to produce exquisite whole-leaf teas that can be brewed multiple times.
