- Piazza Cavour - In the 19th century, the area now known as Piazza Cavour, named after Camillo Benso Count of Cavour, was originally a harbor that has since been filled in. Initially, the square featured boutiques and arcades, with the current buildings being constructed over time. Piazza Cavour quickly evolved into a “city lounge.” By the late 1800s, a fountain was added to the center of the square, which was later relocated to Bronx Park in New York. In the early 20th century, three flowerbeds were added to the square’s sides, which remain today. Tram tracks were laid but eventually replaced by a road. In the 1950s, it served as a parking area. In the late 1990s, ten water jets were installed in the northern flowerbed, marking the latest architectural addition. The square is prone to flooding due to its construction over the lake.
- Teatro Sociale - Teatro Sociale, a theater in Como, was designed by architect Giuseppe Cusi and constructed in 1811 using the remnants of an ancient castle, with original walls still visible today. The first performance was held in 1813, and the theater now hosts performances and is a popular venue for ceremonies, weddings, and business events.
- Cathedral of Como (Duomo) - Situated near Lago di Como, the Cathedral of Como is a significant regional landmark. Its construction spanned various historical periods, showcasing Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. Inside, visitors can find the sarcophagi of Bishops Avvocati and Bonifacio da Modena.
- Basilica di San Fedele - Located in the heart of Como, the Basilica of San Fedele is dedicated to Saint Fidelis the martyr. It originated from an earlier Christian church dating back to the seventh century, which was dedicated to Euphemia.
- Porta Torre - Porta Torre, also known as Torre di Porta Vittoria, is a prominent fortified tower in Como, Lombardy, northern Italy. Standing 40 meters tall, it was constructed in 1192 to protect the city’s main entrance.
