- Piazza Cavour - In the 19th century, the area now known as Piazza Cavour, dedicated to Camillo Benso Count of Cavour, was originally a harbor that has since been filled in. Initially, the square featured boutiques and arcades, with the current buildings constructed over time. Piazza Cavour quickly evolved into a “city lounge.” By the late 1800s, a fountain was added to the center of the square, which was later relocated to Bronx Park in New York. In the early 20th century, three flowerbeds were placed along the square’s sides, where they remain today. Tram tracks were installed and eventually replaced by a road. In the 1950s, the area served as a parking lot. In the late 1990s, ten water jets were added to the northern flowerbed as the latest architectural enhancement. The square is prone to flooding due to its proximity to the lake. The train journey from Milan to Como takes approximately 35 minutes.
- Teatro Sociale - Teatro Sociale, a theater in Como designed by architect Giuseppe Cusi, was constructed in 1811 using the remnants of an ancient castle, with original walls still visible today. The first performance was held in 1813, and the theater now hosts various performances and is an excellent venue for ceremonies, weddings, and business events.
- Cathedral of Como (Duomo) - Situated near Lago di Como, the Cathedral of Como is one of the region’s most significant buildings. Its construction spanned different historical periods, showcasing Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. Inside, visitors can find the sarcophagi of Bishops Avvocati and Bonifacio da Modena.
- Basilica di San Fedele - Located in the city center, the Basilica of San Fedele in Como is dedicated to Saint Fidelis the martyr. It originated from an earlier Christian church dating back to the seventh century, which was dedicated to Euphemia.
- Porta Torre - Porta Torre, also known as Torre di Porta Vittoria, is a prominent fortified tower in Como, Lombardy, northern Italy. Standing 40 meters tall, it was built in 1192 to protect the city’s main entrance. After the tour, return to Milan by train, a journey of approximately 35 minutes.
