- Casa Grande Ruins National Monument - This site features a well-preserved collection of Hohokam structures from the Classic Period (1150-1450). The name Casa Grande translates to “big house” in Spanish. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966. Father Kino was the first European to see the Hohokam complex in November 1694 and named it Casa Grande.
- Picacho Peak State Park - This stop offers a great opportunity for photos and to admire the impressive peak located in the desert between Phoenix and Tucson. It was the site of the westernmost battle of the Civil War, known as the Battle of Picacho Pass.
- Mission San Xavier del Bac - Known for its rich history and stunning architecture, this renowned church is a must-visit. Located just south of Tucson, visitors can spend a brief time inside due to current restrictions. The Mission was established to meet the needs of the local community, the village of Wa:k (San Xavier District) on the Tohono O’odham reservation, and continues to do so today. A small gift shop is also available here.
- Tumacacori National Historical Park - Dating back to the 1700s, this Mission offers a peaceful experience as you explore the grounds and the interior of the walls. Originally protected as Tumacácori National Monument in 1908 by President Teddy Roosevelt, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. Visitors can enjoy walking the grounds and exploring the mission’s interior.
