Beautiful, futuristic view and panoramic view of Guanabara Bay! - I've been before and it's always a better surprise than the other! The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Niterói designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer is beautiful, with a futuristic look and always with interesting exhibitions! Located on the banks of Niterói, easy access by walking the promenade and enjoying the beautiful landscape, where we pass by the Pedra do Índio and the Pedra de Itapuca, which at night are illuminated, magnifying the landscape of Guanabara Bay. Today we were surprised with an exhibition by artist Beto Gatti that confronted the connected virtual world and the reality of the world today disconnected from real and live relationships. Very interesting! But these exhibitions are itinerant and are constantly changing. When climbing the museum ramp a 3600 view of the Guanabara Bay. Nice to appreciate! In addition there are galleries with various works of art from many artists and a library. Very worth the visit!

An architectural tour de force! - Niemeyer's chef-d’oeuvres at Niteroi are simply majestic (both the Museum and Niemeyer’s Path.) The views on both sites are just amazing, The collection although small at the museum is nonetheless relevant and worth visiting. Camilo, a fluent English speaker, was the perfect companion for this exquisite tour. I strongly recommend adding this tour to your schedule, especially the architectural lovers.

Excellent architecture - Located in the bay of Rio, beautiful setting with great views including the sugar loaf. Very interesting architecture, both outside and inside. The exhibitions are ok, but the real thing is Niemeyers architecture, definitely a top sight in the region!

fantastic tour - my guide Camilo introduced me to a beautiful one-day tour, a different way of living Rio not only made up of beaches and sun, its very interesting and its notes, and what to say the rest was done by the city , I recommend this tour for its interesting things and for the availability and kindness of Camilo

Camilo rolld out the red carpet - During my first week in Rio de Janerio I scheduled 4 tours that I enjoyed: all day city tour, Tijuca by Jeep Rainforest/Botanical Garden, Santa Theresa Walking Tour & Camilo's Museums of Modern Art - excellent opportunity to visit Niterói & see some stunning architecture. Obrigado Camilo.

Great Tour with Excellent Engagement - The Tours of both the Niteroi Way and Contemporary Art Museum by Niemeyer were exceptional. At each, our amazing guide Camillo worked with local artists in residence (and interns) to provide us with a unique viewpoint on the site. In addition, the younger generation was able to detail aspects of their history that they have learned and are not destined to forget. Very good tour and extremely positive experience for engaging with real locals. I would definitely recommend this tour for architecture and art minded patrons with engagement as a goal.

Location and another Niemeyer creation! - Niemeyer's futuristic shape is a landmark in museums. The red walkway symbolising red carpet and inclusiveness. There is a stunning view. The extensive collection is mainly from art collector, João Sattamini. It is the 2nd largest collection of contemporary art in Brazil. The museum is a definite must for the whole family when in Rio.

Art teacher here! Read this review! - If you are really into art I’ll let you know now that the art scene has not recovered yet, there isn’t much as you would all want. The museum of modern art had very few, and not being rude but not significant important pieces in a made gallery because of renovations, the museum of contemporary art in Niterio was even smaller and worst, one hall way full “abstract” lazy “art”. Saw maybe 4-5 good pieces. I gave this review a 3 stars just because of my guide Favio! He drove me to the museums and realize that it was nothing to see… so he took it in his own hands to show me art and drove me to the Centro Cultural del Banco de Brazil and there was finally art! It was a show on African art and artifacts but well worth it! FINALLY but again not this tour it was Fabio that saved the day!!! I was very so disappointed!

not too much to see except for the artictecture of building and views of harbor - underwhelming display of various modern art. the main room was undergoing remodeling. the other room had a wonderful view of harbor. pieces on display were interesting but seen easily in 1t minutes. wait till main room is active

A visit to the futuristic contemporary art museum, located on an outcrop along the coastline in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro - The museum of contemporary art was a disappointment. The building designed by Oscar Niemeyer is quite eye-catching with its futuristic shape and idyllic locale overlooking the bay. What was disappointing was the poor use of the space for showing contemporary art, of which there are vast examples throughout Brazil. Inside the building was a curtain-covered interior filled with very little art, and I still don’t fully understand why. There was a free-standing art exhibit outside the museum. On the inside, there were six contemporary art pieces in a space that could have housed so much more. That said, the site is breathtaking, and hopefully, the art selection will improve, so do not take this off your list of things to see in Brazil.
