• Copacabana - The tour begins at 9 am at the meeting point: in front of the renowned “Copacabana Palace Hotel,” a symbol of Copacabana’s golden era in the 1930s and 1940s. After gaining some insights about this landmark, participants will walk a few blocks to reach the Subway Metro Station, the primary mode of transportation for Cariocas throughout the city.
• Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro - Next, the tour proceeds to the Municipal Theatre, an architectural masterpiece built in an eclectic style in the early 20th century, situated in the city center. Just a few blocks away, participants will board the Bondinho Santa Teresa, a cable car established in 1872 that travels atop an old aqueduct known as “Arcos da Lapa.”
• Escadaria Selarón - After a few stops, the tour arrives at the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa, passing by numerous antique mansions from the early 20th century. Here, visitors will discover the Parque das Ruinas (closed on Mondays), the remnants of an old palace that has been transformed into a hub for art and cultural activities, offering panoramic views in all their glory. Weather permitting, one can see the City Center, Sugarloaf Mountain, Guanabara Bay, and more. After capturing some memorable moments, the tour continues to the vibrant Selaron Stairs, a cultural highlight in the Lapa neighborhood, the heart of Carioca nightlife.
• Catedral Presbiteriana Do Rio De Janeiro - Finally, participants will visit the Confiteria Colombo, an exquisite Art Nouveau coffee shop from the late 1800s, recognized as one of the world’s ten most beautiful coffee shops (closed on Sundays). Upon concluding this visit, participants will either be dropped off at Sugarloaf Mountain to take the cable car or return via metro to the Copacabana Palace, where the tour concludes. The guide will provide directions for visiting Christ the Redeemer independently in the afternoon or can pre-purchase entrance tickets to Christ the Redeemer, as availability may be limited during certain times.
