This museum, opened in 2024 (therefore not present in maps/paper guides) and little publicized, will become a Must! - It brings together works and information by Bansky but also by Warhol, Hirst and Murakami, with information panels also in English.

Original Banksy works and good mediations - The museum showed many original Banksy works, and there was good written dissemination of them on the walls. I also got a good introduction when buying tickets.

Favorite museum in Copenhagen - We went here our first evening in Copenhagen and it was my favorite museum. I have never been to a street art museum, and I found it so interesting! I wish we had more time--we went about an hour before closing because I did not know it would be so interesting. An hour was enough time, but I recommend giving yourself 1.5 hours to really take everything in.

Banksy Like You’ve Never Seen – Rare Stencils & Street Art Origins at MACA - If you’re a fan of street art or intrigued by the enigmatic world of Banksy, the MACA Museum in Copenhagen is a must-visit. Located in a historic 19th-century warehouse near Nyhavn, this contemporary art museum offers an intimate and immersive experience into the early years of street art. 🎨 Exhibition Highlights The centerpiece of the museum is the exhibition “Banksy & Street Art: The Early Years,” which spans three floors. It features a rare collection of Banksy’s early works, including original stencils, drawings, photographs, and paintings. These pieces provide a fascinating insight into Banksy’s creative process and the evolution of his distinctive style. Beyond Banksy, the exhibition also showcases works from influential street artists of the 1980s and 1990s, such as Futura 2000 and Lady Pink. This broader context enriches the understanding of the street art movement’s roots and its impact on contemporary art. 🏛️ Museum Experience Visitors can enhance their experience with a free multilingual audio guide app, allowing for a self-paced exploration of the exhibits. The museum’s layout is thoughtfully designed, with each floor offering a unique perspective on the evolution of street art. Amenities include restrooms, a coat and bag rack, and a cozy courtyard café—perfect for reflecting on the thought-provoking art over a cup of coffee.

Is that art or can that go away? - Is that art or can that go away? Just 20 years ago, major cities took great pains to eliminate what is now worth millions and celebrated in art circles. This exhibition provides an interesting insight into the change of the zeitgeist and culture. The creation of graffiti art is very well documented. Whether it is worth it is in the eye of the beholder.

Street Art incl Banksy - We had an expectation that there were more motifs (reproductions/pictures) from Banksy, since that was the headline. The exhibition had more focus on general (and beautiful) street art by other famous and talented artists than Banksy. Preserved, there were maybe 10 of Banksy's works. The exhibition should more correctly be called “Street Art incl. Banksy" to set expectations.
