- Hoejbro Plads - Højbro Plads is situated just off the main shopping street, Strøget. From this spot, you can enjoy a stunning view of Christiansborg Palace and Børsen (the former stock exchange), along with the statue of Bishop Absalon on Horseback!
- Christiansborg Slot - Currently, the fifth iteration of Christiansborg Palace stands on Slotsholmen, which means “The Palace Island.” It serves as the seat of the Danish Parliament and is a residence for both politicians and royalty.
- St. Nicolaj Church - The present structure is a modern reconstruction of the church that was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1795. Discover the history of the fires (there were several!) and one of the city’s most prominent landmarks. The tower provides some of the finest views of the city center.
- Royal Danish Theater (Kongelige Teater) - The Royal Danish Theatre now includes the Old Stage at Kongens Nytorv, as well as the new Copenhagen Opera House and the Royal Danish Playhouse, both situated by the harbor front.
- Kunsthal Charlottenborg - Charlottenborg now also hosts the Kunsthal Charlottenborg and the Danish Art Library. Annually, Art Academy graduates present a comprehensive exhibition where visitors can experience emerging artists and potentially purchase their work at reasonable prices.
- Nyhavn - Nyhavn, with its vibrant houses lining the canal, is a must-see in Copenhagen! Hans Christian Andersen once resided in Nyhavn. In house No. 20, he penned the famous fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea.” During his life, he also lived in No. 67 and No. 18.
- Copenhagen Opera House - The Opera House in Copenhagen is among the world’s most modern and well-equipped opera venues. The A.P. Møller Foundation gifted it to the state in August 2000, and it was inaugurated in 2005 on the island of Holmen, directly across from Amalienborg Palace.
- Amalienborg Museum - Amalienborg is the official residence of the Royal Family. The former queen, Margrethe, resides in the palace on the left, nearest to the waterfront, while her son, King Frederik, lives opposite her with his wife Mary and their four children.
- Frederik’s Church - The construction of Marmorkirken, also known as the Marble Church and Frederik’s Church, began in the 1700s. Today, the church is a popular wedding venue, with bells ringing nearly all day on Fridays and Saturdays. Visitors can enjoy a spectacular view from the top of the dome, accessible daily.
- Sankt Annae Kirke - St. Ann’s Square (Sankt Annæ Plads) marks the boundary between the city center neighborhoods of Nyhavn and Frederiksstaden. The square features park space, statues, embassies, and more.
-
Kongens Nytorvs Skating Rink (Skojtebane) - Kongens Nytorv is a large central square surrounded by many historical buildings:
• The Magasin du Nord (French for “Shop of the North”) is a Danish department store chain, with its flagship store located at Kongens Nytorv.
• The Hotel d’Angleterre (French for “Hotel of England”) began as a restaurant called “The Strong Man’s Garden.” Rooms were later added to the restaurant. Over the years, this hotel has hosted notable figures such as Winston Churchill, Bill Clinton, Ozzy Osbourne, Neil Diamond, and many more.
