- Strøget - Strøget, one of Europe’s longest pedestrian streets, extends for 1.11 kilometers in Copenhagen. Famous for its shopping, it stretches from the Town Hall to Kongens Nytorv near Nyhavn, offering a wide variety of stores. Visitors walking along Strøget will also encounter numerous street performers, including acrobats, magicians, and musicians.
- Church of the Holy Ghost - Helligåndskirken (The Church of the Holy Ghost) is among Copenhagen’s oldest churches, dating back to the 1200s. Initially, it was built without a tower.
- Gråbrødretorv - Gråbrødretorv, or “The Grey Friars Square,” is a delightful square named after the Franciscan monastery that once stood there. It is known for the Stone of Shame, with the original stone preserved at the Natural History Museum. This stone is linked to the story of Leonora Christina, the daughter of Christian IV.
- Rundetårn - Wander through Copenhagen’s Old Town, home to landmarks like the Round Tower. The Rundetårn, or “Round Tower,” built in the 1600s, is the oldest functioning observatory in Europe. However, it was not Denmark’s first observatory. The renowned Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe developed the “Tychonian” system—an intricate and advanced model of the solar system for its time.
- Rosenborg Castle - Rosenborg Castle was initially constructed as a summer residence for Christian IV. Visitors to the castle can travel back in time and experience over 400 years of royal life, from daily routines to grand celebrations. The castle also houses the Danish crown jewels, which are unique as they are both displayed as museum pieces and worn by the royal family.
- Frederiks Kirke (Marmorkirken) - Marmorkirken, also known as the Marble Church or Frederik’s Church, dates back to the 1700s. Today, it is a popular wedding venue, with the bells frequently ringing on Fridays and Saturdays. Visitors can also enjoy a breathtaking view from the top of the dome, which is open daily.
- Amalienborg Museum - Amalienborg is the official residence of the Royal Family. The former queen, Margrethe, resides in the palace closest to the waterfront on the left, while her son, King Frederik, lives directly across from her with his wife, Mary, and their four children.
- Royal Danish Theater (Kongelige Teater) - Currently, the Royal Danish Theatre comprises the Old Stage on Kongens Nytorv, the new Copenhagen Opera House, and the Royal Danish Playhouse, both situated by the harbour front.
- Nyhavn - Nyhavn, once a bustling port filled with ships making deliveries, is now a vibrant, must-visit location in Copenhagen. Today, Nyhavn is known as “the longest outdoor bar in Scandinavia” due to its numerous restaurants, pubs, and cafés open 24 hours a day. Nyhavn was once home to the author Hans Christian Andersen.
