- Spianada Square - Spianada Square is the town’s most prominent monument. Its name comes from the Venetian term for an “open flat area,” and it is reputed to be the largest square in the Balkans. The Liston, part of the square, features some of Corfu’s finest cafes and restaurants. The French transformed Spianada into a public square, which was previously a large empty lot used for defense before the 19th century. Cricket matches are held on the Esplanade, the only place in Greece where the sport is played.
- Corfu Museum of Asian Art - Situated in the northern part of Corfu town’s historical center square, the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George is the largest and most significant building from the English rule period, which lasted from 1814 to 1864 when the Ionian Islands rejoined Greece. Built at the behest of British Lord High Commissioner Sir Thomas Maitland, it served as his luxurious residence and administrative headquarters. Today, it houses the Corfu Museum of Asian Arts, the only museum in Greece dedicated solely to Far Eastern and Indian art and antiquities. Founded in 1928, its collection includes approximately 15,000 works of Asian art and is internationally recognized, with rare items featured in global exhibitions.
- Church of Saint Spiridon - The tour includes a visit to the Church of Saint Spyridon, the island’s patron saint and miracle worker. Constructed in the 16th century, the church’s architecture is characteristically Venetian. Its bell tower, the tallest point in town, is visible throughout Corfu’s Old Town. Locals hold deep faith in Agios Spyridon, regarded as the island’s protector. Inside the church, a crypt houses his relics in a double sarcophagus.
- Old Town Hall of Corfu (San Giacomo Theatre) - As the tour continues through the narrow streets, visitors will pass by Corfu’s Town Hall Square, once an exclusive Venetian neighborhood with an opera house and surrounding villas. The town hall building initially served as a club for noblemen and later, in 1720, became the Noble Theatre of Saint Giacomo of Corfu. In 1903, it was converted into a Town Hall.
- Jewish Synagogue - The Jewish quarter, historically the old Venetian “ghetto” still known as Evraiki in Greek, spanned the southeast section of the city near the Venetian fortifications. It was interwoven with alleyways lined with faded, multistoried houses, reminiscent of Venice. The ghetto’s urban unity was disrupted by bombings during World War II.
