- Playa De Ajuy - Take a walk to the breathtaking Ajuy caves, the oldest formations in the Canary Islands.
These caves are part of Fuerteventura’s basal complex, formed by the submarine flow of lava and sediment that surfaced to create the island 100 million years ago during the Cretaceous period.
The rocks emerged from a depth of 3,000 meters, forming the foundation that now supports this island and Lanzarote.
The caves hold significant geological and paleontological importance and are among the top 150 sites of primary geological interest worldwide.
Visiting them offers a journey back in time to the origins of Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands.
Pierre:
• The walk to Ajuy caves is a prime example of nature’s wonders.
• Weather permitting, we will also explore the caves on the west sea coast.
