Amazing tour, can’t miss it! - The tour was great! Roy is very knowledgeable and very friendly. He explained to us the history of the cloud forest reserve, showed us the various kinds of trees and birds. He even spotted a variety of wild animals such as monkeys, snake, agoutis, even bats! We had a great time, especially the kids! Highly recommended!

Wonderful Guided Walk of The Cloud Forest - We had an incredible walk with Roy through the Monteverde Cloud Forest. He was so insightful and passionate about this beautiful primary forest. He helped us to see a lot of wildlife including the elusive Quetzel. He was patient and allowed us to stop and take loads of pictures, all while sharing his incredible knowledge. There are lots of paths that are available to discover and once you pay for the park entrance fee you can stay and walk around to other areas if you like. We also enjoyed the wonderful hummingbird garden where we had wide open views of these beautiful birds.
We learned a lot about the Cloud Forest and would highly recommend Roy as a guide.

Great Tours with Roy and Associate Guides - Roy is a natural leader and excellent local naturalist. We did three private tours with him and his associates (Jose & Kevin). First was the Monte Verde Biological Reserve general tour (Jose), night walk (Kevin) and birding tour (Roy). We had an infant with us and they were all remarkably patient and knew just where to take us. I would consider Roy a friend at this point and will recommend him to anyone planning a trip to the Monte Verde/Santa Elena/San Luis area.
¡Pura Vida!

Exceptional! - Roy is an exceptional guide and is genuinely passionate about birds. We started our tour at Stella’s bakery and then went onto the cloud forest.
Roy spots and identifies the birds remarkably quick and is super knowledgeable on each species. Grateful that we saw over 30 species of birds, including the Resplendent Quetzal.

Great tour, really enjoyed - I booked a tour with Roy Gonzalez in October 2024, during the rainy season. We chatted via WhatsApp and he was able to arrange for a 9:15am tour that same day for my husband, mom and I. Roy G was out of town so he arranged for Roy H to meet us at Curi Cancha. We also paid for a golf cart for my mom at the park itself. It was a $75 fee and came with a driver, Mauricio. The cart made it possible for my mom, who has mobility issues, to truly enjoy the tour. The path, while wide, winds up and down the mountain. I wouldn’t say it was difficult but it would definitely pose a problem for older persons or those with mobility issues like my mom. Mauricio was great and chatted enthusiastically with my mom (who is a native Spanish speaker).
Roy H was informative, enthusiastic and spotted a ton of birds that we never would have spotted on our own.
I would highly recommend.

If you wish to see a Quetzal, Roy is great! - Roy is an excellent guide! He located two Quetzals for me right away and we saw many other birds and animals. He knows which reserve to visit when to see the Quetzal! I was so happy. He is an awesome guide and very easy and nice to work with. I highly recommend!

Great Tour - Our tour guide Roy was passionate and extremely knowledgeable about Costa Rica’s cloud forest, birds, and animals. On our tour, we saw white faced monkeys, toucans,
and the very rare resplendent quetzal bird. I would highly recommend this tour and our guide Roy. It was a great time.
