Great Experience, Great Guides, Highly Recommend for Families - We had a great experience on the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano Hike & Crystal-Blue Swimming Adventure. Our driver, Rafa, and guide, Hernon were both great. Super friendly, very informative, and happy to talk and provide local insight. Our party consisted of two adults, a 14 year old, and a 9 year old. This excursion was just right for our family and not too much for our youngest. We loved the tubing and cliff jumping. Our guide didn't intend to get wet, but was a great sport and had a great attitude when he did in fact end up in the water. We ended up doing the water portion first, then the hike, which seemed backwards, but also, doing it in that order helped ensure that neither location was busy while we were there which made for an uncrowded and pleasant experience. Our driver and guide were both super knowledgable, great conversationalists, and hospitable. We enjoyed our lunch as well. There was plenty of cold water available after our personal water bottles were emptied. The excursion and the guides were a highlight of our trip. We'd do it again and would enjoy doing future excursions with Rafa and Hernon!

My husband and I, in our... - My husband and I, in our late 60s, had a very good experience on this Rincon de la Vieja Volcano hike and river swimming. Diego, our guide, picked us up at our hotel (Andaz Papagayo) and we drove in his car about 2 hours to the volcano rim hike. The 2.5 mile hike was fairly easy, though with some slippery rocks I was glad to be wearing hiking boots. Sneakers also would be fine. On the hike we saw boiling cauldrons of mud, lots of tree species, and a few animals (lizards, wild turkeys, birds). Bring water. After the hike, we had a pleasant lunch at a family run restaurant. Following, Diego took us to a river known for its blue-green waters. We changed into bathing suits and leisurely floated down the river in tubes, lovely after the hot hike. Diego was courteous and informative about the countryside. His English, though a bit limited, was much better than our Spanish and we communicated well with a Spanglish combo. All in all a good day.

Last Minute All Day Excursion! - Such a great time with Jose. He was attentive to our needs and brought us to the best spots. We wanted to have a challenging hike (we did over 8 miles!) to a waterfall, lunch and then to relax in hot springs. He made it all happen with a great attitude. He was fun, friendly and informative. His communication was great and he arrived on time. We did not lack anything. I would recommend him to all my friends and family.

Best tour guides !! - If you’re looking for an authentic experience in Guanacaste, the Cerro Caballito Tour is a must-see. The hike is accessible, safe and with truly surprising views: open panoramas towards the coast, green mountains and a completely natural environment that makes you disconnect from the noise.
The team organizing the tour is extremely professional and attentive. You can see that they know the area well and take care of every detail to make the experience memorable: they explain about the local flora and fauna, recommend the best points for photos, and adapt to the rhythm of the group.
What I liked the most is the tranquility of the place. It’s not a crowded tourist spot, so the experience feels intimate, authentic and perfect for those who love nature, photography or just want to breathe fresh air.
I definitely recommend the Cerro Caballito Tour whether you live in Costa Rica or are visiting, this is one of those places that reminds you why Guanacaste is so special.

It never happened. They never picked us up. They don’t pick up the phone or respond chat. Day ruined. Don’t book w them - Never happened. Didn’t pick us up, day ruined. They don’t answer phone calls or customer chat. Don’t book with them. Viator couldn’t even reach them. A complete waste of a vacation day.
