Best Full-Day Trip (5) activities in La Fortuna - We highly recommend this full-day nature excursion organized by Red Lava in La Fortuna. It might be a bit physically demanding but it's almost fine for everyone else. To give you an idea; we had a 2-year-old and a person over 70 in the same group, and both participated without any problems. You'll discover all the beauty of Costa Rican nature (sloths, watch out for venomous but fascinating snakes and frogs, lizards, a canopy of unique trees, and, with a bit of luck, legendary toucans and parrots). After a break (to taste the best pineapples in the world – so sweet) you'll reach one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the Arenal Volcano. After a typical casado meal at a local restaurant, we headed to The "Waterfall" (note; nearly 500 steps round trip, but the view and the swim are definitely worth it!). A short stop at the hot springs was planned, but it was so crowded that we preferred to explore other places on our own. An absolutely fantastic excursion, guided by the wonderful Melanie and Chris. Thanks again for all your invaluable visit and memories. Pura vida to all of you! Mike and Julie-Anne from Canada

Excellent alternative to carry out all three activities in one day. - Excellent alternative. Small group. Very professional team, punctual pickup, good and comfortable vehicle. Very friendly guide, great knowledgeable about the terrain. Equipped with a very powerful monocular telescope, it helped us take exceptional photos of the animals we found. The activities are very good and very complementary. Very rich lunch, in one of the recommended restaurants of La Fortuna, Casa Fortuna.

Highly recommend - This tour was a full day of wonders! Joe was our guide and he had an amazing ability to spot sloths, toucans, howler monkeys, and spider monkeys. Also an eyelash viper and a blue jean frog. He was a wealth of information. The tour included a break for fruit and lunch - both delicious. The volcano hike had breathtaking views and the La Fortuna waterfall was incredibly beautiful; you can swim but the bottom near the waterfall is very rocky and the force of the waterfall is a little intimidating. There is a sort of side place where the water is easier to swim in. It's 500 steps down, so 500 back up. The Mistico Park hanging bridges was really beautiful. I expected to get rained on but not a drop all day until we got back to the van and then the skies opened up. It's a long day of activity but so worth it.

Alex was great!! - We had a good time on our full day adventure around the Arenal Volcano area but our guide, Alex, made the day!! He had a great personality. The volcano hike, hiking around the park and the La Fortuna Waterfall visit was special. The hanging bridges was a fun area to see but could be missed if you have other things to do. The full day we saw 2 snakes, a toucan, several birds, wild boars and some great sights! It was a fun way to see the area.

Wonderful day - This was a full day tour with lots of fun. We learned about the volcano, plants, flowers and the animals. We also had a traditional Costa Rican lunch which was very good service and food. The guide had a spotting scope for good views of the wildlife and was very good at pointing stuff out. The waterfall was busy but the rest of the tour wasn’t. The tours were somewhat physical but well worth the effort. SAMUEL was the BEST tour guide ever!!!!!!

Blue jeans frog 🐸 - This tour was incredible. We had David as our main guide, we did the volcano hike first thing and we saw keel billed toucans and a jumping pit viper !! Then onto waterfall which was so refreshing. And finished the day at the hanging bridges which by the time we got there, was pretty much the park to ourselves! Kevin joined us for the this part and found a yellow eyelash viper AND blue jeans frog !!! (Blue jeans was an absolute highlight of my whole trip to Costa Rica). All in all, excellent day, great food, great knowledgeable company and guides. 100% recommend!

Friendly, knowledgeable, and eco-responsible guides - I only have good things to say about this tour operator. We took two tours with them on our recent trip to La Fortuna: lava walk/ fortuna waterfall and Cano Negro. We scheduled them via our hotel and we're very impressed. Our guides (David, Jason, and Jorge) were excellent, as were our drivers. The guides spoke both English and Spanish and did a great job of educating us on what we were seeing and how to appreciate it responsibly. We saw many animals that we never would have spotted on our own. The guides each carried scopes/ binoculars and helped us take photos. Transportation was safe and comfortable, and the included lunches were delicious. I recommend this tour operator to anyone hoping to appreciate the local flora and fauna responsibly
