Blarney Castle, Cahir & Cashin - Our tour guide was Phil. He was personable, professional, funny, and very knowledgeable. He gave us amazing tips and knew so much history of his country. I can tell that he is very proud of his roots and wanted to share as much information as possible. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is coming to Ireland. Thank you, Phil you were spectacular.

Spectacular Castles Blarney, Cashel, and Cahir - Lovely tours of three castles. Phillip was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide and bus driver. We first went to Rock of Cashel.
Cahir Castle was next and it was so interesting, especially with the expert explanation by castle guide Elizabeth. Wish we had more time there. Blarney Castle was spectacular! Lovely gardens and so much to explore. Got a good feel, but more time would have been lovely.

Highly recommend! - My husband and I went on this tour today! It was awesome! We are on our honeymoon (today was also my birthday), and have been on several tours in the last few days. Domenic was the best tour guide we have had so far! He was very informative and shared so much Irish history with us! He was excellent! If you have the chance to take this tour I suggest you do! What a great day!

Lovely day trip - Phillip was lovely! He was very informative and gave us tidbits about his life growing up in Ireland. He kept us entertained all day. Blarney Castle was lovely but, there isn’t enough time to fully explore the grounds:

Kiss the Blarney Stone - This is my third trip to Ireland and my third time taking this excursion. It has never felt like a “one and done.” It is worth it every time.

Yes to the Tour - with a Suggestion - On my second day of tours for my first trip to Ireland, I selected Blarney, Rock of Cashel & Cahir Castle.
I selected this tour from the Viator website. I didn’t pick a specific company because I had never been to Ireland. I ended up with Irish Day Tours for the day.
Because of my experience with my day one tour (Wild Rover Tours) which was phenomenal, my expectations were set for this day two tour.
Let’s start with the positive, our driver was charismatic, kind, and got us to all destinations as promised. I felt we had enough time at each stop and thoroughly enjoyed each stop tremendously.
I can’t say enough how fantastic each stop on the tour was! Each castle was unique, memorable, and worth the trip! I also feel the price on this tour was affordable and would highly recommend seeing these sights.
On the flip side…. there were several negatives. If I were to do this again, I would choose a different tour company (the company from day one). This is simply my opinion. I feel I have realistic expectations and my priorities are safety, cleanliness, and of course - enjoyment.
1. Our pickup spot was the Molly Malone statue. No bus actually came to the statue. Instead, at least five tour groups met there at the same time. One man with a clipboard would walk up, call a tour name out and a time, and tell them to go down the street and to the left. This happened over and over again. I witnessed many confused travelers, old, young, non-English speakers….etc… When we were called, we did the same - down the street and to the left. Our bus was there, instead of leaving at 6:50, I believe we left about 15 minutes late. This could’ve been done in a more organized way.
2. The conditions of the bus were ok. The day prior, our bus was spotless. This one, not so much. The floor and seats needed to be cleaned, but the windows were clear and allowed for a great view.
3. Yesterday we had a driver and a tour guide on the bus - I didn’t think much of that at the time but it made a BIG difference. Today our driver and tour guide were the same person. This created a whole different experience, and I don’t fault this individual because driving, narrating, and making sure all travelers are accounted for and safe is too much. This is a company issue. Most of the information we heard was sporadic, unfocused, and confusing. When the driver wasn’t talking, there was loud music playing from his random playlist on his phone.
4. The ride was freezing! The air was blasting. We did ask for it to be turned down but had to do so a couple times to be heard over the music. The air was lowered.
5. At each stop, we were told what time to be back. However, at one stop, that was not mentioned. Our group went into the castle, and we realized we didn’t know. We agreed on a time ourselves because the driver doesn’t stay with you at the destination. Obviously, this caused confusion and we’re all came back at different times and left late.
6. My biggest negative - which I didn’t realize until the way back. I may be biased because using a cell phone while driving in the states is considered a danger and a huge distraction. I agree with this sentiment. On the way back, I happened to sit forward a few times and each time I saw the music was being scrolled through and selected on a phone by the driver while driving. I thought maybe it would happen once or twice, but it continued. Maybe that’s acceptable in Ireland, I’m not sure. However you are in charge of the safety of all of these people, driving a large bus through traffic, etc…unacceptable, in my opinion.
With all that being said, I highly recommend this tour if you travel to Ireland. However, I recommend booking with a different company.
