Beautiful Ring of Kerry Tour - Full day guided tour of Ring of Kerry (13 hours). Start with train from Dublin Hueston rail station to Killarney and guided bus tour of Ring of Kerry from Killarney. We were accompanied by Ian during the train ride and he stayed with us during the bus tour as well. Ian was very helpful, friendly, and informative. The bus driver related information and stories during the Ring of Kerry tour. We saw many beautiful panoramic views of Ring of Kerry during the tour. It was misty and raining at times which created a mystical feeling and we even saw beautiful rainbows. A highlight was viewing demonstration of sheep dog herding sheep and enjoyed visit to Kerry Bog Village to see how life was in 19th century rural Ireland.

Awesome Beauty and Warm Hospitality - We were awed by the natural splendor, and also by the Irish Rail Tours host and the Killarney-based driver-tour guide. These knowledgeable, kind, witty men engaged warmly with us all. It was a day of Ireland’s coastal beauty and genuine hospitality.

- Do not miss the Ring of Kerry! You won't believe the beautiful sites! We were staying in Dublin and booked this tour last minute and enjoyed it thoroughly! While it is quite a ways to travel in one day, there is so much to take in and we knew that going in. John was our guide and led our small group every step of the way! He was kind and incredibly helpful, providing us with so much background information on daily life in Ireland, sports, and celebrations. Pros: Helpful guide, seamless transportation from train to coach, informative coach driver/ tour guide, nice home cooked lunch with stunning views. The sheep dog demonstration was a highlight ( bring cash) along with Killarney National Park stops ( views, history and waterfalls!) Cons: This is a fast paced tour and to get it all in the coach travels very fast. It was tricky to take good photos. We would have enjoyed a slower pace but understand the timing situation. Overall: Highly recommend!

Just plain awesome - Absolutely loved this trip. Beautiful scenery with some awesome little stops along the way. Loved our stop in Kerry Bog village and even got to watch a sheep dog performance. John and Sheila were fantastic as our tour guide and driver respectively. John even helped our girls get a cultural exchange by arranging for them to ride the train with some local Irish kids. Probably the best tour we went on during our time in Ireland.

Paddy is awesome! - Our tour guide, Paddy, was fantastic! Not only did he accompany us on the train, but he did on the bus as well. He made sure we had seats on the train together for our group of 3. He also spoke to each group and made sure we knew where were going, what time we would get there and what we would be seeing. He was very informative and patient, which we greatly appreciated. He was so sweet to offer to take pictures of us at each site. We highly recommend this tour and make sure to ask for Paddy!

Amazing Scenery - This was a long day that started and ended with a train ride, Dublin to Killarney and back. Joe was our guide on the train and he was a kindly humorous man who my wife and I just loved. Once in Killarney we climbed aboard a bus for the famed Ring of Kerry. I was so looking forward to this tour because of its reputation, but also because my family comes from the region. The ring of Kerry is a beautiful 110 mile twisting narrow road that has some of the ruggedest and most scenic vistas in Ireland. The problem was, in the counterclockwise direction that the tour bus’s are required to traverse, the beautiful views of Dingle Bay and the Atlantic Ocean were all on our right side and we were on the left. We did have some views of the Macgullicuddy Reeks and Killarney National Park, but due to the incessant rain that day, between the impending fog and the heavy rain, it was hard to see. My wife and I had taken five other tours which the rain and sunshine seemed to take turns, sadly this day it rained continually. We did stop a few times for pictures and the sheep herding show with the border collie and whistles was amazing. Take this tour, and sit on the right side of the bus if you can.

You are not really going on a tour with Railtours - I am so sad this was my last day tour of the week because it was not a good experience. The only thing that saves it from being a 1 star is Ian our Railtours Ireland guide who was with us on the train. He was charming and you can tell he loves what he does. We took the train from Dublin to Killarney and it was great. I loved being on the train and it was a great ride and felt very safe. However, on the train we were told we were transferring to a bus; what was not told was that you are joining a large 50+ person bus tour. Your bus is not actually your group you start with. That was incredibly disappointing because I loved our small 8 person group. Because we were joining this large bus, seats were limited and I was placed in the way back because I was solo. Unable to see unless we stopped to get out. Our driver was nice but just joining a large group turned me off so much, I just wanted it to be over and for spending $168 being my most expensive tour of the week, not being able to see, not having our nice small group, created such a negative experience. At lunch we were not given instructions about how the restaurant handles guests and it was a bit confusing. At the end we were joined by Ian again for the train ride back to Dublin. Like explained before he was very nice and knowledgeable that he is the reason this is a 2 star. He also made sure I was able to get a taxi since we arrived later in the evening after dark. That was service that I wished joined us for the whole day.
