This self-guided walking tour invites participants to embark on a historical journey through the captivating peninsula of Durham city.

Participants will start from the vibrant city center, meandering along peaceful riverside paths and ancient bridges, leading to the renowned Durham Cathedral. They will witness some of the most breathtaking viewpoints and hear stories of St. Cuthbert and his miraculous journey to the city approximately 300 years posthumously! Along the route, they will encounter legendary kings and intense rivalries that have influenced Durham since the Anglo-Saxon era.

From affluent and quirky Prince Bishops to modest locals, participants will meet the individuals who have shaped the city into what it is today. The tour takes about an hour without additional stops, but participants can pause anytime for refreshments along the way.
