Humpback whales in the sunset, no other boats around - what's not to like! - Our skipper Andi really knew her stuff. We had a smashing trip - and it was great to be the only boat around. We wanted to see some humpback whales. We certainly did that and enjoyed being able to hang around undisturbed and watch them do their thing

Very good - Smaller group, very nice biologist who confidently led the boat, many sightings. Zodiacs are absolutely safe and comfortable apart from the fact that there is no toilet (or only very small) on the inflatable boat. Highly recommended, not as a nub as elsewhere!

The best adventure ever! - This was my 3rd late afternoon/sunset whale watching trip with OceanEcoventures in the past year. I’ve loved every single one, as have my guests visiting from both France and Germany. Yesterday’s trip included sealions, harbour seals, a glimps of porpoise AND three families of Orca - 11 in all. It was so exciting. Even though I’m a local, these trips will be an annual adventure for my guests and I.

Lucky us! Ww saw 2 types of Whales! - We really enjoyed this experience and we saw some Killer whales for a super long time. It really felt like they were putting on a show for us and ww saw a Humpback whale- so cool! It was so educational and our guide was so passionate and lovely. I love the fast boat ride in between sightings. This memorable experience was one I will never forget!
We also saw 2 bald eagles and a couple of the sealions that live in the bay year round! And some other cool birds!

Awesome Whale Watching tour. - This was a great whale watching tour. We were able to see a family of killer whales swimming in the Saanich Inet. What a wonderful sight. Our tour guide Taz was amazing, she was very knowledgeable and loved showing us different areas of the water.
My only dislike was having to wear the cruiser suits but that is Canadian rules not the company. But I will say at 8:00pm the suit kept you warm.
I definitely recommend.

In Awe of what we experienced...... - As locals to Cowichan Bay it was a natural for us to book with our local company. our family of 7 celebrated my wife's birthday with a Sunset Adventure. 3 kids, 4, 5, 7, and four adults. We were joined by a family of 5 and we all fit into the boat.
We were lucky weather wise as the wind was only 5-10 knots along with sunny skys to begin our trip out of Cowichan Bay. The adult suits and kids gear kept us all warm as we motored at 28 knots into the wind. The 3 kids sat in the front row and tolerated the wind and bumpiness having one of the kids falling asleep for the first 30 minutes as we motored in the islands seeking out whales. As a boater of many years motoring at this speed does not allow for conversation but one must be patient. The wind subsided about 20 minutes in as we exited Cowichan Bay and headed to The Georgia Straight.
During a short stop at a reef with lots of kelp and seals gave us a break from the wind and to have Kate, our Captain and Naturalist, give us some information about the natural circle of life and the feeding chain of the Orcas.
We then motored for another 20 minutes to two other boats to observe a group of 6 Orcas moving north. We tagged along with this group in awe and watched as they would surface breathe as we observed. These animals are truly majestic and powerful. The boat allowed for everyone to clearly see and take photos which do not do the encounter justice as we must maintained a safe viewing distance.
We stayed with this group for quite some time, approximately 45 minutes, to finally break off and begin to return. 10 minutes after separating from the Orcas Captain Kate saw a "blow" from a grey whale. She headed us in that direction for us to discover 2 grey whales who we observed for about 20 minutes as they surfaced then deep dive a couple of times displaying their huge fluke tails in the beautiful evening light as they dove.
After the fluke show we were all quite fulfilled with awe of all that we had observed as we begin to fly back to home base in the setting sun. All in all and amazing experience.
Our little kids did well and loved seeing the whales even though their patience was tested in the long motor at the beginning and the final return leg of the experience heading back. We were all tired but touched by what we had seen.

Once in a lifetime experience! - Our guide was so knowledgeable! She knew so many interesting facts about the whales and their behaviour. We got to see a whale breech Infront of us! We were lucky enough to see them feeding which was really exciting! As well as whales, we saw seals and their pups, eagles and two brown pelicans. Definitely worth every penny!

Failed experiment - Bad experience with this claimant. Very expensive service without much interest. On 3h30 excursion, 2 hours to follow 3 same cetaceans, no possibility to approach animals that stay too far. The guide pays no attention to non-English speaking participants and to a ready-made and especially overrated speech about marine animals. Not worth the price at all
