Tamarindo is an excellent location for learning to surf, offering clean and gentle waves that ensure a fun and safe experience. All you need to bring is your swimsuit, sunscreen, and a positive attitude! Let’s enjoy some great waves together.

We meet at the PARKING right next to the restaurant “El Vaquero”, look for the purple flag that says “La Muda” or ask the parking guy/girl for “La Muda Surf”. If you for whatever reason have trouble finding us, you can ask for La Muda Surf, Carlos Brown, Isabella Carrera and Jeison Brown.

Fantastically fun for this fifty+ woman - Carlos and his instructors were amazing. Trying out surfing in my 50's for the first time was not an easy decision for me. We had a group of 7 ladies with no one having surfed before. All of the instructors we supportive and were encouraging us all. My personal instructor Renaldo was patient, kind and seemed genuinely excited that I was able to stand up. I definitely recommend these guys and would absolutely do it again with them.

Middle-Aged Women Surfing Success! - We were a group of 7 women ages 27-56 and every single one of us was able to stand up on the surfboard thanks to the wonderful and patient instructors! Many in our group said it was the highlight of their trip! Highly recommend this experience!

Worth every penny - Absolutely perfect experience for our kids to try surfing. They did private lessons, both instructors were amazing, and they were up on the board on their first try on a wave. Communication was great, everyone was warm and welcoming + professional, and it was money and time very well spent. Would def do again.

Fun & Adventurous! - Juan Carlos and Palmer were so patient and attentive. We had individual attention given to us and stood up on our boards, not once, not twice but many times! These guys are very family friendly.

Best surf school in Tamarindo - Wonderful surf school. Isabella and Carlos were both super helpful getting me set up, organising a taxi for me from Coco and making me feel super welcomed as a solo traveller. My teacher, Steven, was hilarious, instructive and made me feel calm and safe. I learnt more from him than I have in a decade of surfing. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Tamarindo. Thank you LA MUDDAAAAA

Excellent experience as a first-timer!! - Hands down, this is the place you’re looking for! Easy to schedule, super knowledgeable instructors, and great value for your money 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I recommend you ask for Palmer. He was my instructor on the first day and I loved my lessons with him so much I went back for two more lessons with him. He’ll make you feel confident and you’ll progress quickly, which is SO fun!!

Highly recommend the surf instruction here - Great experience. They were easy to find and we both got up and rode the waves. They knew just which area of the beach would have the best waves for beginners and more experienced surfers. If we come back, we will use them again. The instruction and knowledge of the beach was excellent.
Avoid buying smoothies on the beach though, one smoothie and two bottles of water was $50 US. The area does price gouge tourists on food, etc. a travel size stick of deodorant was $10 US.
