As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for unique experiences that can bring families closer together while creating lasting memories. When I heard about the VIP Heated Manatee Snorkel Tour in Crystal River, I knew it was something I had to try. Juneau, a friendly face at the front desk, made us feel right at home and provided us with all the information we needed for our tour. My initial concerns about the ethical treatment of the manatees were quickly put to rest when we met Mayleah, our guide for the day. Her passion for these gentle giants was evident, and she made sure we understood the importance of passive interaction with the manatees.

An Unforgettable Underwater Adventure

Once we were suited up and ready to go, we boarded the heated pontoon with Captain JJ at the helm. The ride to Kings Bay was filled with anticipation, and the excitement was palpable as we approached the manatee sanctuary. The moment we slipped into the water, we were surrounded by the serene beauty of these magnificent creatures.

The manatees glided gracefully around us, and it was a truly magical experience to be in their presence. The highlight of our snorkeling adventure was when a curious baby manatee swam up to us and made eye contact. It was a moment of pure connection that I will cherish forever. Capturing Memories and Making Plans

After our time in the water, we returned to the pontoon where Captain JJ had hot cocoa and tea waiting for us. It was the perfect way to warm up and reflect on the incredible experience we had just shared. Mayleah had been busy capturing photos of our family both in and out of the water, and Captain JJ even took an aerial drone shot to show us just how many manatees we had been swimming with.

The photos were a wonderful way to relive the adventure, and it was a relief to know that River Ventures had taken care of capturing these memories for us. As we left the facility, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to share such a unique experience with my family.
