• El Cajas National Park - At the 3 Cruces viewpoint, the guide will discuss the continental watershed and the site’s religious significance, particularly for travelers. Photography enthusiasts can capture stunning images of the Cajas Park landscape from various viewpoints, weather permitting.
• Laguna La Toreadora - Guests will be picked up from their accommodation in the morning for a drive of approximately 1 hour to Cajas National Park, situated 30km west of Cuenca. This tour includes visits to two altitude levels within the park. At the mid-level (3,960 meters), participants will embark on a 3-hour walk in the Toreadora area, depending on the group’s pace. The trek offers a chance to admire the beautiful scenery, including the Polylepis Forest and moor-like Paramo, while the guide provides insights into the area’s flora and fauna. Cajas Park is a fantastic location for nature photography.
• El Cajas National Park - LUNCH TIME: Ecuadorian cuisine is diverse and delicious. This tour offers the opportunity to enjoy a delightful local soup and a main course, with an excellent vegetarian option available for vegetarian guests.
• Llaviuco - After lunch, there will be a brief complementary visit to the Llaviuco valley, located in the lower part of Cajas National Park at approximately 3200 meters above sea level. Here, guests can enjoy a different landscape featuring many native trees that are part of the Andean mountain forest. The guide will explain some medicinal and representative plants of this ecosystem, and guests can also see the origin of the Tomebamba River, considered the most important river in Cuenca.
• Cuenca - Following this visit, the guide will return guests to the city of Cuenca, dropping them off at their hotel. The return trip will take about 1 hour.
