The park boasts approximately 768 lakes within its 70,533-acre expanse. It serves as a crucial water source for Cuenca and Ecuador. The park has received international recognition in several categories: designated as a Wetland of International Importance by RAMSAR in 2002, recognized as an Area of International Importance for the Conservation of Birds by IBA in 2003, and declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2013.
- Laguna Llaviucu - Next, the tour explores the Llaviuco Cloud Forest, offering a 1.5-hour hike to appreciate the park’s contrasting landscapes. With some luck, Tucans might be spotted. After a day full of adventure, the tour returns to Cuenca.
